No Atkins For The Puppies

girl-with-dogThe LA Times is reporting new research published in Nature on the role of Man in the evolution of Wolves by comparing with domestic canine DNA. The study noted that domesticated canines were able to digest carbohydrates much more efficiently than wolves and it was likely that brave wolves who got close enough to human settlements to nab scraps parted through adaptation to the different sort of food source. Anthropocentrism appears to have one more piece of confirmation as the catalyst of dog evolution.

As agriculture took stronger root (pun shamelessly intended), it appears that humans and domestic dogs evolved together to better digest these sugars and starches they began taking in more excessively.
