Apparently Michelle Shocked was so startled by the reaction to her anti-gay rant in San Francisco that she has decided to start a one woman protest run by dressing up entirely in white with tape across her mouth with “Silenced By Fear” written on it while she shakes her head vigorously and strums her guitar.
She did this in front of Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz after her show got cancelled. She tweeted her plans ahead of time “Moe’s in S Cruz tonight ok? Its an art project `My Summer Vacation’ I want your autograph. Bring Sharpie.”
Well, while Shocked did that, inside the bands Beaver Fever and Frootie Flavors played. According to Moe’s Alley owner Bill Welsh “We will not be bashing Michelle Shocked. Rather we will celebrate music, diversity and send some healing Santa Cruz energy her way.”
Apparently no one has decided it would be a good time for Ms Shocked to move to Nashville in order to pursue a Christian-Country music career. After all, her brand of homophobia would probably go over well in the churches of Brusnwick, GA; Mobile, AL, and much of the South.
Shocked is an ardent Christian who decided to engage in some rather nasty antics on stage. She has since claimed that she was misunderstood and that she was not bashing gays. Unfortunately, by the time she got done with her anti-gay rant on stage in San Francisco, her career was pretty much over and she was left to pretty much sit there like a vagabond claiming that she has been silenced by other people’s fears.
As of yet, she has not explained what she means by this, but she probably feels that people are afraid of her interpretation of what “God’s Words”, which as someone has recently noted, it is impossible to actually find anything that Christ said about homosexuality. So far, it seems that the only person who has been silenced by fear is Michelle Shocked.
