AP is reporting that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a medical student. His father called him a “true angel”. It appears that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot, but did not die initially. He may have died from injuries sustained when his brother ran over him. He apparently died later at the hospital.
The bomb squad has been brought in at Watertown, MA, in a white clapboard house near where the last batch of shooting occurred. Police are very suspicious in that area, and have pushed back everyone from that house and the staging area in a situation not dissimilar to how the police tend to handle a meth lab. Two people were taken into custody. One woman, one man and a child were removed from the house that the police have surrounded. It appears to be the house of the Tsarnaev brothers, and may have explosives in it.
Jeff Baum lost both his legs in the bombings. He was right next to one of the bomb and saw one of the Tsarnaev brothers drop off the bomb. His photo has been across the net, including the unedited one showing him with most of his lower legs shredded. Baum woke up and demanded pen and paper and gave a description. He may have been the big break in this case.
The BPD has stated emphatically (not that it really should be asked for guys on the scene) do NOT compromise police officer safety by broadcasting tactical locations. (Come on guys, that is common sense).
A second person has been taken into custody at the home of the Tsarnaevs. They are not under arrest as of this time. Two ambulances are standing by at this time. Initially, the names were being released as Dzhokhar Tzarnaev and Tamerlan Tzarnaev. Officially, the spelling is Tsarnaev.
Police believe that they know the location of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. They have also taken into custody someone not initially known to have been as part of the investigation. The third person was arrested at the home of the Tsarnaevs. The two are responsible for the deaths of four people- three were killed at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. They killed a police officer as he sat in his cruiser. They then carjacked a man and stole his SUV. They held the man for a time before releasing him.
Shelter in place- that is the news out of Boston today. One of the men responsible for the bombings that hit the Boston Marathon is dead, and the other is on the run. The Metro Boston Transit Authority has been shut down, and police are doing controlled detentions to clear the bombs that have been left by the brothers who came to the US a decade ago with their parents.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is the brother who is still alive. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed by police in a shoot out. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was born in Russia, and had a bomb strapped to his body. His brother fled after running Tamerlan’s body over in order to escape.
The two were born in Chechnya. Tamerlan, who was the older brother and was wearing the black cap, claimed to not have any friends in the United States.
Currently, Watertown and greater Boston is on lock down.
The Tsarnaev brothers are permanent residents in the United States. Their father worked in various places across Russia before moving to the United States. The surviving brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is 19 years old. The two lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Advisories are that there could be more than just these two involved in the fighting.
It began last night with the robbery of a 7-Eleven. They then killed an MIT police officer and wounded another.
