Openly Gay Man, Eric Fanning, Confirmed As Air Force Undersecretary

US_Air_Force_svgEric Fanning has been confirmed as the undersecretary of the US Air Force. He is the second-highest ranking civilian in the Air Force. What makes him special is that he is openly gay.

Fanning was nominated back in 2012 by President Barack Obama. He had previously served as the deputy undersecretary and deputy chief management officer for the Department of the Navy.

Fanning stated that “I have been immensely proud to serve these last four years with the men and women of the Navy and Marine Corps, and if confirmed, I very much look forward to becoming a part of the Air Force family. It would be my honor to play a role in making sure that the best men and women our country has to offer get all the support they need in undertaking the mission of defending our country, a mission for which they freely volunteered.”

President Obama has been very willing to nominate lesbians and gays to various governmental posts.
