Everyone hit the deck! The Hub is set to start airing a show that will…er…probably cause a lot more uproar among the Christian Social Conservatives than the whole “Rainbow Dash is a lesbian” issue. The show “SheZow” is going to have some people upset about the gender-bending involved.
You see, the Australian import follows 12-year-old Guy Hamdon who “fancies himself an extreme dude with his own macho catch phrase, ‘It’s a GUY thing.’” Then, one day, he finds a ring that grants him the ability to turn into a superheroine. You read that right. Superheroine. That is, the ring is only suppose to be used by girls, and every time he transforms into the superhero SheZow eh also becomes a girl.
Oh deary, deary me.
According to The Hub:
With “SheZow,” Hub Network takes viewers on a rollercoaster ride of comical adventures and unforgettable characters. Blending the tradition of a classic action-filled comic book with the quick wit of a modern day comedy, “SheZow” brings to life a new kind of superhero. Through hilarious “miss” adventures, Guy, along with his bossy twin sister Kelly (Diana Kaarina, “Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale”), and his best bud and side-kick Maz (Matt Hill, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III”) fight villains and protect their city — all while having the time of their lives.
The half-hour acquired series was created and written by Obie Scott Wade (“Julius & Friends”). Loris Kramer Lunsford (“Johnny Test”), Jason Netter (“Wolverine and the X-Men”), Wade, Gillian Carr (“Flea-bitten”), Huoi Seong Low, and Brenda Wooding all serve as executive producers.
This one is going to get a lot of knickers in a bunch. I expect One Million Moms to be screaming at the top of their lungs over this. Sigh…something tells me that the show is going to be controversial one way or the other, actually.
I think I’ll just hide over at Carousel Boutique…
