It appears that the LGBT Community in Illinois is finally fired up and pushing for same-sex marriage legislation to go through. The bill is currently pending before the Illinois House of Representatives. While the session has ended, the legislature has to return to wrap up some unfinished business soon and it is hoped that the bill will pass through the House soon.
Tomorrow, 13 July, various LGBT groups will be rallying in support of the legislation. The rally and march are expected to start at 1pm local time at “the Northeast corner of Michigan Ave. and Congress Parkway. March will head North on Michigan Ave, past the Taste of Chicago and end at Washington Square Park, 901 N. Clark Street.”

Event Description: Rally and March on Chicago for Marriage Equality will call on the Illinois House of Representatives to pass the marriage equality legislation that is currently pending before the General Assembly. The event will begin with a rally that will feature faith leaders, same-gender families, LGBT Activists and musicians. The rally will be followed by a march North up Michigan Avenue and ending in Bughouse Square (Washington Square Park), the site of the beginning of the first pride parade in Chicago. There will be a short rally after the march featuring organizers and activists.
