Sarah Silverman is known for her controversial comedy. She frequently includes the LGBT community in her many borderline offensive comedy routines. My personal favorite being when she “becomes” a lesbian on The Sarah Silverman Show and says “As a lesbian I resent your laughter and all laughter.” However, Silverman got very serious about marriage equality last friday on the view.

“I can not imagine wanting to get married right now at this time in America. If you’re for equal rights, why would you get married right now? It’s like joining a country club that doesn’t allow blacks or Jews. There’s no difference. Why would I wanna join that club? It’s gross.”

Silverman’s statement is beautiful in its simplicity. Comparing perpetuating institutional prejudice in the form of marriage to the kind perpetuated by those in exclusive country clubs is an argument that is easily understandable and doesn’t allow for very much wiggle room by those seeking to disprove marriage equality.

Silverman is a staunch supporter of LGBT rights and it’s easy to see why she has such a large LGBT fanbase. Watch the Sarah Silverman show on LOGO to support Silverman.

Rachel Maddow wants you to know that she is not getting married. Maddow is currently living with her long term partner, artist Susan Mikula. Maddow and Mikula met when Maddow was a grad student. Maddow shoveled Mikula’s driveway…among other things.

Maddow said in an interview today:

“This spring, we will have been together for 11 years, and our relationship is serious and happy, mature, monogamous. We like having the right…but we’re making our own decision about whether we should exercise it.”

I don’t want to delve into the validity of Maddow’s relationship. However, statements such as these generally occur right before the couple in question breaks up. This applies to gay or straight relationships. Ladies, feel free to get your hopes up.

Kim Zolciak, of Real Housewives of Atlanta fame, is best known for dating rich men in order to sustain her lavish lifestyle. Zolciak has found huge success as a tv personality and has managed to use that fame to turn her dance single “Tardy for the Party” into a hit. Zolciak has been making the rounds on the party circuit. At an event in NY recently, she was overheard bragging about her latest love interest. When asked who the lucky man was, Zolciak stated “Who said it was a man?” Later, partygoers reported that she was seen getting cozy with out lesbian DJ Tracy Young (www.tracyyoung.com). Fans of Young have also noticed that the popular DJ has been spinning “Tardy for the Party” at her recent gigs. Zolciak has always been gay friendly. She has many gay friends that she features on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and she has gone into business with one of these aquaintances for her wig line. She also posed for the NOH8 campaign, designed to raise awareness for marriage equality.

Zolciak has previously been linked to “Big Poppa” aka Lee Najjar and Joe Francis.

02/04/2010- by Natasia Langfelder It was surprising to everyone when FOX announced that Ellen DeGeneres would be filling the vacant judging spot left by Paula Abdul. It was however, a genius move. America loves Ellen. She gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming appearances as a judge on American Idol. She says about the show:

“I had one idea of Simon when I came in, and it’s changed. He’s actually meaner than I thought. … It’s hard to listen to him tell people things and me not to go, ‘You poor thing!…I’m getting good at delivering bad news, myself, but I’m trying to do it in a tender way. … I hate hurting people’s feelings, so that, I think, is the hardest part…I think we have good people … I’m going to fight very, very hard to keep the people that I believe in, so that we have a wide variety … somebody for everybody, I hope.”

Ellen’s statement is in line with her personality, there is no way she is going to bring the bitter bite that Simon Cowell brings when it comes to judgingthe contestants. Ellen makes her debut as a judge on the February 9 episode of the show. Simon will exit the show at the end of this season. I’ve never watched American Idol, but I’ve been watching this season so I will know what to expect when Ellen is on the show. Will you be watching Ellen on American Idol?

Out creator Darren Star, best known for his work on HBO’s “Sex and the City” series is being tapped by HBO to direct a biopic of anti-gay activist, Anita Bryant. Anita Bryant was a well known beauty queen, singer and celebrity spokesperson. However, her lasting legacy has been her political campaigning to further alienate the LGBT community from mainstream society.

Some illuminating quotes from Bryant, during her campaign to repeal anti-discrimination legislation in Florida are:

“What these people really want, hidden behind obscure legal phrases, is the legal right to propose to our children that theirs is an acceptable alternate way of life. [...] I will lead such a crusade to stop it as this country has not seen before.”

“As a mother, I know that homosexuals cannot biologically reproduce children; therefore, they must recruit our children” and “If gays are granted rights, next we’ll have to give rights to prostitutes and to people who sleep with St. Bernards and to nail biters.”

“All America and all the world will hear what the people have said, and with God’s continued help we will prevail in our fight to repeal similar laws throughout the nation.”

Chad Hodge, who has worked on Tru Calling and Runaway, is set to write the script for the biopic. Hodge had a personal connection to Bryant, as they both went to Northwestern together. Hodge insists that Bryant has had an interesting life and is a worthy object for biopic. Despite her career being pretty mundane and overall, a failure. The most interesting thing about Bryant, is the reaction she provoked in the gay community. Gay Bars in Florida, banded together to protest Orange Juice (Bryants most widely known shilled product) by removing screw drivers from their menus and naming a drink after her.

The real question is, why is a gay director attached to a project about an anti-gay activist? We will have to wait and see.

In a public display of open homophobia rarely seen by large corporations today, CBS rejected an ad featuring two men kissing from the Super Bowl lineup. The ad was for the gay dating site, ManCrunch.com. CBS stated that the ad”is not within the Network’s broadcast standards for Super Bowl Sunday.” However, in the past Super Bowl ads have featured half naked women violently fighting with each other while being sprayed with water. These are the values that CBS feels are more appropriate to align themselves with.

 CBS is known for running the most entertaining and cutting edge commercials during the Super Bowl, as advertisers go all out in terms of both expenditure and creativity to catch the eye of the large viewing audience. Even news websites, such as Slate, run reviews of Super Bowl commercials, making the commercials more of a part of the viewing experience of the game than an afterthought.  Excluding representation of gay men from the airwaves during the event, is effectively exiling them from sharing in this Nationwide event.    

Advocates for CBS are making the argument that ManCrunch staged this as a publicity stunt. However, how could this stunt be staged without the presumption of anti-gay bias on behalf of both CBS and Super Bowl viewers? Refusing to air this ad during the Super Bowl is insulting to every straight man who watches the Super Bowl, who is comfortable with his own sexuality and with the gay community. CBS is assuming ignorance and homophobia on behalf of a large population of men. It’s unfair to paint football fans with the same brush.  Hopefully, with increased media pressure, CBS will change their stance and air the ad.

Rosie O’Donnell is doing the media rounds as she promotes her new HBO special, “A Family is a Family is a Family: A Rosie O’Donnell Celebration.” She first made headlines, at least during promotions for her HBO special, when she announced on Oprah that lesbians can stay better friends after breakups than heterosexuals. Now, she is talking to LocateTV, with her son, Parker, by her side.

O’Donnell admits that she is not looking for a full time position on TV. Her family is her first priority. The interview shows a different side of O’Donnell, who is frequently over exposed. O’Donnell and her son show a genuine affection for each other and come off as very down to earth, despite their wealth and stardom. Parker says of his mother:  

LOCATETV: What’s your relationship with your mom? Does she know as much as maybe you thought she did a few years ago? (laughter) How do you guys get along?

PARKER: I’m going to get in trouble.

ROSIE: No, take it. Say the truth.

LOCATETV: Be honest now. (laughter)

PARKER: Well, me and mom have been close probably, yeah, since I was born. (laughter) Yeah. So I would probably say I talk to her a lot about a lot of stuff that’s going on. And she probably knows most of the stuff that she needs to know. (laughter)

What is a family? Sometimes it’s a mom and dad and their kids. Or it might be kids with just a mom or dad. Or it could be kids who have more than one mom or dad. While the answer varies, all families share one vital ingredient: love.

A FAMILY IS A FAMILY IS A FAMILY, A ROSIE O’DONNELL Documentary set to premier on HBO JAN. 31 (7:00-7:40 p.m. ET/PT), is a moving portrait of the remarkable diversity of families today that challenges stereotypes, highlighting same-sex parents, mixed-heritage families, single parents and stories of adoption. Children speak from the heart about parents, siblings, marriage and love in the exclusive documentary.

In the special, Rosie O’Donnell also talks with her daughter Vivienne Rose about how their family which includes sister Chelsea, brothers Parker and Blake and parents Rosie and Kelli came about. Following her recent separation from Kelli, O’Donnell reaffirms the importance of family in a talk with Vivienne Rose, saying, “Even though Mommy Kelli and I aren’t living in the same house anymore, we’re still a family. Family is forever. And family is love.”

In A FAMILY IS A FAMILY, kids offer touching, profound and often funny insights about what being a family means to them. Among those featured are: children with two fathers or two mothers; a girl whose mother and father adopted her in China; three brothers who live with their mother and grandmother; a pair of mothers who are getting married to make one big family; and families with adopted kids and children born through in-vitro fertilization.

Interspersed with these portraits are musical performances and animated interludes, including: reggae star Ziggy Marley, his mother Rita Marley and sister Cedella Marley performing “I Love You Too”; four-year-old Najorae and her father singing their original song “Love Is the Thing;” 11-year-old Martin and his seven brothers and sisters performing “Cario (My Love),” nine-year-old Joey singing “Raised on Love,” a song he wrote with his mom and dad; and folk musician Elizabeth Mitchell performing “Blue Clouds” with husband Daniel Littleton and seven-year-old daughter Storey.

O’Donnell’s tongue-in-cheek performance of “My Science Project” tells the animated story of a young girl whose class project describes the scientific way she came to be. And Frank Sinatra’s rendition of “Too Marvelous for Words” is accompanied by an animated sequence of a sperm in top hat serenading a glamorous egg.

The soundtrack of A FAMILY IS A FAMILY IS A FAMILY also includes original songs written for the special, among them: “And Mom and Kid,” by They Might Be Giants, “My Family,” by Sweet Honey in the Rock and “A New Generation (Conner’s Theme),” by Charles Strouse. In addition to “Too Marvelous for Words,” classic recordings featured are “Baby Mine,” sung by Bonnie Raitt and Was (Not Was) and “A Bushel and a Peck,” performed by Doris Day.

Melanie Nathan:-  1/19/10 =5.00 pm San Francisco :- Judge Judy makes a BIG Lesbian / Gay faux pas– but she probably did not realize it.  I love having TV on in the background while I work. I never watch it though. (okay, okay only Bachelor and the News ok and Desperate Housewives…)  For some reason the erstwhile Judge was really annoying me and as I was about to change the channel when my remote froze – I could not help but hear the remark – and it was made at me?  

Am I over sensitive because of the prop 8 trial;  the disdainful and gut wrenching testimony directed at me –  where as a sister of an entire population am rendered invalid until the possible stroke of another Judge’s pen?   I am begging for recognition.  Now in the Gay Diaspora ,  that is the rest of the world, my safety is shirked as I hear that my life and love ought to be rolled back like an old classic movie on a reel; I keep hearing it “ undo you- undo who you are- you can change your ways–   you don’t count! ”  It is a self possessed mantra that does not leave me any peace.

Oh get out of me and back to my  real TV Judge – The case – Jennifer and Joanne are roommates.  They are not lovers, so that is not where I am going with this. Clearly straight roommates they opened a joint checking account for shared apartment expenses.  They came to Judge Judy’s Court with a related dispute – The Judge roared at them both – “How could you be so stupid, who opens a bank account with someone with who you have no marriage contract?   You open bank accounts with husbands and that’s tough enough said the well meaning Judge.

So here is my piece – Judge Judy what if they were lesbians and had no marriage contract available to them– because the law of the United States prevented them from having such?   Would they still be stupid to open a bank account together?   Without a marriage contract? 

Now I am not looking for an apology, only a little bit of sensitivity …. Notice – to America – We are a minority and the subjects of daily discrimination.  Be it words, be it laws, be it whatever.

Natalie Cassidy is a British actress who appeared on the popular UK soap, EastEnders for 16 years. Cassidy played “Sonia Jackson” since she was ten years old, but left the show in 2007 after Sonia had an affair with Naomi, a fellow nurse.

Cassidy told Reveal Magazine that she left EastEnders because she didn’t feel comfortable with her character engaging in a same sex relationship.  She calls the relationship not true to the character of Sonia and calls the lesbian story itself “shocking.” Cassidy goes on to display her ignorance further when she says that she would consider going back to EastEnders, but only if Sonia was the star of a really “shocking” storyline. Basically, she is claiming she would return to the show for the same reason she says she left the show. Someone call MENSA, this girl is a genius. Obviously, Cassidy is upset that she was cast as a lesbian. I would like to applaud EastEnders for including lesbians in their stories, lesbians exist in real life and deserve to be represented on the screen. Only most of us are much more attractive than Natalie Cassidy. Cassidy has also appeared on the UK version of dancing with the stars, “Strickly Come Dancing.” I would like to nominate Cassidy to appear on Oxygen’s “Dance Your Ass Off.” That show is much more appropriate for her.

In a new interview on Afterellen.com, Lucy Lawless reveals that she regrets the way the series ended.

AE: I know you’ve spent the last ten years talking about Xena, but I have to tell you how much pleasure that show gave me. Sitting with you now, I’m reminded how moved I was in that final episode when Xena faded away, dead, and Gabrielle (played by Renee O’Connor) was left on the boat, alone.
LL: I kind of wish we hadn’t done that, actually. At the time, we thought that was a really strong choice, but I think it really hurt the fans.

AE: My theory has always been that Xena and Gabrielle traded places. They completed each other and Gabrielle became the warrior and Xena became the selfless person of total good, like Gabrielle.
LL: And isn’t it funny how when someone dies, you do somehow absorb them, and they are now available to you all the time. Maybe with the time that’s left, the fans will become less…

AE: They’re still angry.
LL: They’re still angry?

AE: They’re still angry…

Afterellen.com asserts that the fans are still angry and it shows in the comments left by readers on the interview:

“Yeap, I agree with everything you said. But more than angry, I think I was very sad and disappointed. That’s why I emersed myself in fanfiction trying to believe in an alternative ending…”

“Yeah… I’m still angry.  Was an avid fan.  Love Lucy… Love Renee… Not so happy with Rob.  Won’t watch reruns… ”

“Why did they have go and break my heart.  The end didn’t even make sense with the rest of the show.  Already wrote about this once… but someone wasn’t paying attention to continuity of story! ”

“The death of Xena was the death of Xena for me in everyway. If Xena haven’t died I’ll probably be watching the show on DVD right now. But no they killed her and killed it for me forever.”

“I have all the DVDs, a gift from my loving partner, but I was so pissed off at how Rob had killed Xena off — off with her head — that it was a really awful way to end the series. Us lesbigay fans had so much invested with these characters, the likes of which we had never seen before on our TVs, only to have Rob & Co. minimalize us by ending the show the way he did. It STILL hurts. Can’t watch the show ever again like I used to. LOVED Xena until that hurtful ending.”

“Yeah, I’m still angry too. And I haven’t even seen FiN in its entirety, the episodes were shown with a year’s delay here, so I had plenty of time to read the reactions online and prepare – but then I still couldn’t bring myself to watch it. I own all the DVDs and re-watch episodes frequently, and I’ve watched parts of FiN and listened to the commentary, but… no. I’m so glad she realizes how much it hurt the fans, though, she’s said things like this in interviews for a while now”

The comments range from sad to heart-breaking. So many women have invested pieces of themselves in this series. It’s easy to see why, there are so few positive relationships on television that it was easy to emotionally latch onto Xena and Gabrielle. It’s understandable that lesbians would be upset with the ending to the series. While it is a bold move, artistically, to have the main character of a series die at the end, to lesbians this is just another tragic lesbian ending among many. It’s clear that the lesbian audience is ready for their happy ending.

 Logo, the only television channel aimed specifically at the LGBT community, is launching four new series for 2010. These include “The Robert Verdi Show starring Robert Verdi”, “RuPaul’s Drag U”, “The Arrangement” and “Kept.”

 With the possible exception of “The Arrangement,” which focuses on florists showcasing their talents in a traditional elimination style reality competition, all the new series are focused around gay men, not women. “Kept” follows in the footsteps of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” series, with a cast of gay men who are supported by their more financially solvent husbands. RuPaul’s Drag U teaches everyday straight women to release their “inner diva.” As a lesbian, I have no interest in seeing pathetic straight women try to follow the advice of drag queens in order to make themselves more conventionally attractive to straight men. Really Logo?

The most readily available explanation for the lack of picking up a new show that includes the L in LGBT is that gay men outnumber gay women and Logo’s best chance of building up an audience and making money for their sponsors is to focus on their male audience. However, it is worthwhile to take note of the noticeable lack of women in the new shows they are producing.

 There is some good news, Logo has also ordered new episodes of “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” which address the entire LBGT community and is produced by Rosie O’Donnell as well as the popular series “Exes and Ohs,” which is the first scripted series about lesbians on basic cable. The series is returning to the air after an extended hiatus.

Jillian Michaels, the tough guy trainer for NBC’s hit series, “The Biggest Loser,” comes out as bisexual in the upcoming Februrary issue of Ladies Home Journal.

 The statement is fairly ambiguous, but fans have suspected that Michaels was gay for awhile now. Michaels was one of the original owners of Sky Sport, along with Workout Star Jackie Warner. There are also various reports on messageboards of women claiming to have spotted Michaels at Weho lez bars.  It remains to be seen if she will clarify on this statement or open up further about her personal life.

The Biggest Loser is a reality TV show where contestants compete to see who can lose the most weight.

Niel Patrick Harris has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, Miniseries, or Movie (Television). The Golden Globe is presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association annually and covers both film and television. Harris is most famous for his role on Doogie Howser, MD. Harris has been open about his sexuality to the public since 2006 though he had been open about it personally for quite some time. Harris has played the womanizing Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother since 2005. Since coming out, Harris has starred in a number of different roles and hosted the Emmys. In fact, one of the movies he provided the voice in, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, is up for its own Golden Globe in Best Animated Movie.

Sigourney Weaver was also nominated for her role in the TV Movie Prayers for Bobby. The movie, based on real events, follows mother Mary Griffin, played by Weaver, who believes that her son can be “cured” of his homosexuality through faith and prayer. Eventually her son became depressed and committed suicide. Mourning her loss, she eventually reaches out to the LGBT Community.

Today, Barbara Walters tells the Ladies of the View that this year’s group of most fascinating people is edgier, more current and less obvious than usual.  That sounds refreshing and perhaps a worthy watch.

Her most ‘edgy’ fascinators would apparently be Adam Lambert and the very Lady Gaga, who responded to Barbara Walters direct questions about her sexuality.  When asked, she admits she “likes” women, but has only ever fallen in love with men.  Walters on this morning’s VIEW, showed the clip where she honed in for the kill; with an “have you ever slept with a woman?”    Lady G looked as if she had been clonked on the head – and nailed an actual smile (nervously) and gasped “Barbara…”  Answer cut and the teaser was over.  Interviewed wearing a paradoxical black Chanel Suite – a must watch.

Joy Behar has her own show and what a stroke of happiness for us queers; she is her own person and clearly is at the helm of her nightly presentations.  Her strength and force will go a long way as notwithstanding her progressive sensibility, her VIEW always seems so correct in a matter of fact “how could it be any different “ kind of  way.   Hence she may reach those who have yet to be touched.

I watched the Joy Behar show on TV last night.  Her guests explored a “home for the hols” topic, with an emphasis on their personal coming out experiences and the difficulties in coming out to family, or having same-sex partner be invited to the family table. The guests included Judy Gold comedienne. The show can be viewed at  http://joybehar.blogs.cnn.com/.

Clearly Ms. Behar is a great advocate for the LGBT community, albeit perhaps inadvertent. She has a distinctive ability to address issues within the realm of acceptance and not mere tolerance.  In providing the voice to one who says he is sick at the thought of male and male sex, – and the humor that ensued as a result, enhances her credibility and showcases the issue. The concerns and hardships for the LGBT community are expressed through the personal experiences and stories of the of guests who wear their “out” badges so proudly on their sleeves.

This Thanksgiving I want to thank Ms. Behar on behalf of our community, for providing a forum where we do not feel we are portrayed as an oddity or slither of irrelevant society, despite the ratings risks that may result.   She has a special gift where her “chutzpah-esque” humor transcends any possibility of alienation by landing squarely on the side of the person who she perceives as just another person.  The talent is in her ability to highlight the issue without making it an issue. You go Joy Behar. We love you dearly and oh yes “thanks!” Happy Thanks giving to All at LGR – Writers, Publisher Paula, Lizzy, Bridgette, Sei – Readers, Fans, Bloggers, Activists, Binational couples in hiding or exile abroad.!

Science Fiction and Fantasy have a long history of portraying gay and lesbian characters. Often those are seen in books and not in television or movies. From Ursula K. LeGuin’s Left Hand Of Darkness to Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series, the issues of gender and sexuality have been part of how Sci-Fi/Fantasy has presented the world. It has taken quite some time, but television is starting to catch up with the books as Stargate Universe, the latest in the Stargate franchise, introduces an openly lesbian character.

Camille Wray, played by Ming-Na, is openly lesbian. The series begins this Friday, 2 October at 9pm. The character of Camille Wray is not the first lesbian character in a science-fiction series. The character of Susan Ivonova played by Claudia Christian in the series Babylon 5 was largely confirmed as being lesbian, but even she was likely not the first.

In a recent interview, Ming-Na compared the challenges of playing a lesbian character to those of being an Asian woman working in Hollywood; however, she felt thrilled by the challenge. “I’ve never played a gay character, and for me that was such an incredible challenge. And I said, ‘As long as you write her with absolute depth and she’s well rounded, and there’s no stereotypes, and she’s a real person — then yes, let’s go for it.’ I’m thrilled. I just think that it’s a great challenge for me as an actor,” she said.

The series itself is set around a colony of human refugees who are trapped on a rogue spaceship unable to change its course as it takes them into the far ends of the universe.

Several record companies have sued daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for using copyrighted music without their permission.

The suit filed in a federal court in Nashville last week on behalf of Arista Music, Atlantic Recording Corp., Capitol Records, Motown Record Company, Sony Music Entertainment, Virgin Records America and Warner Bros. Records, claims DeGeneres and her producers violated their copyrights by playing more than 1,000 songs without permission during the “dance over” segments of the show.

The suit says the daytime talk show has used the copyrighted music without permission since its inception, including “recordings by virtually every major current artist of popular music” and says the show routinely used some of the most popular songs of the day, which the record labels don’t license for daytime television at any price.

The lawsuit also called the segment and the music played by the show’s own disc jockey “signature elements of the show.”

Court papers also state that when representatives of the recording companies asked the defendants why they hadn’t obtained licenses to use the songs, the defendants said they didn’t “roll that way.”

“As sophisticated consumers of music, Defendants knew full well that, regardless of the way they rolled, under the Copyright Act, and under state law for the pre-1972 recordings, they needed a license to use the sound recordings lawfully,” the suit states.

A statement issued last week by Scott Rowe, spokesman for the DeGeneres ’s Telepictures Productions, said that the company has been working with the record labels for months to resolve the issue and remains willing to resolve it on “amicable and reasonable terms.”

The record company suit does not specify the dollar amount it seeks in damages… yet.

The National Equality March scheduled for next month in Washington DC has a new supporter and today Logo, a division of MTV/Viacom Inc. announced that it will support the March by participating in a number of events surrounding the weekend.

Most notably, Logo is joining the cause by “going dark” from 11:00AM ET to 3:00PM ET (the hours concurrent to the March) to emphasize the significance of the gathering.

This will be the first time in Logo’s four-year history that the 24/7 cable service will not broadcast programming. Instead, a graphic message will urge viewers to visit the Logo website 365gay.com for information on the March and how they can get involved on a local level.

For those unable to attend the rally in person, the network will provide live coverage from D.C. via Twitter updates streamed on 365gay.com during the March weekend.

“The National Equality March resonates strongly with Logo’s gay and straight audience because we all expect equality in all aspects of our lives,” said Lisa Sherman, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Logo in a statement. “Our unprecedented action of ‘going dark’ underscores the significance of the event and what Equality Across America is hoping to achieve. Supporting the March reaffirms Logo’s ongoing commitment to the campaign for equality for everyone.”

Out Lesbian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she would be permanently replacing Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on Fox’s top-rated television show, American Idol when it returns in January 2010.

Abdul announced her departure in July and was replaced by a number of guest judges during the auditions that occurred this summer across the country, including actor Neil Patrick Harris, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth.

During an episode of her talk show set to air Thursday, Ellen made the following statement:

“We’ve been dealing with this for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been dying to tell everyone. It’s just been so hard to keep it a secret and we just finally got the okay and I’m so excited. It is going to be so much fun. I don’t know how it happened myself but I have not missed one episode of that show. I’ve watched every single thing. I love everything about it and I love music, as you know. Hopefully I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you…I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person. So I’m hopefully going to be that voice of what we’re all doing at home.”

Ellen, will also continue her her role as host of her Emmy-winning daytime talk show as well.

Maybe now I will watch that silly show.

Bravo television’s Top Chef: Las Vegas had something of a brush with the issue of marriage equality on a recent episode. One of the contestants named Ashley became upset over preparing food for somebody’s wedding when she and the other gay and lesbian contestants could not themselves legally marry in much of the country. According to several critics the fiery civil-rights interlude brought some flair to what was a largely disastrous episode which involved the preparation of food for a bachelor/bachelorette party. Despite Ashley’s impassioned speech one of the other contestants, Preeti, seemed less impassioned despite being with her partner for the last 13 years. Here is the video from that episode.

Transgender Diva Leiomy Maldonado brings it to the stage in America’s Best Dance Crew’s Beyonce’ Challenge with ABDC’s first gay dance crew “Vogue Evolution”.

The Newlywed Game, which originally ran on ABC from 1966 to 1974 has always been groundbreaking… the show was one of the first to feature African American couples on with white couples starting in their first season, and helped break down the color barriers on daytime television

And was one of the first shows to really talk about sex… with “making whoopee”, the euphemism that producers used for sexual intercourse in order to get around the 1960’s network censors.

Now the Game Show Network, in updated version of this venerable favorite, currently being produced by Michael Davies (“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”) and his production company, Embassy Row, is planning to break ground again and this time feature same-sex couples whose marriages are legally recognized by their state as contestants…

“The Colony”, airing at the end of July on Discovery, is supposed to be “a controlled experiment to see exactly what it would take to survive and rebuild”. Specifically, a world wide pandemic, like the one we keep hearing about Swine Flu supposedly coming this fall.

The “experiment”, and I put it in quotes because you can’t take a reality show that seriously, is 10 survivors for 10 weeks in an elaborate post-apocalyptic setup. They even have a road warrior type gang come in at some point. The show has an elaborate site set up for you to “make your own colony”, offers plans for machines you’ll need after the collapse, and follow along with the show.

Now I’m a big fan of the art and talent that’s going into this. What I’m not a fan of is the possibility that The Colony will play a vital role in the process of propagandizing the public, exaggerating the threat and conditioning people to line up and demand they be injected with the swine flu vaccine. Meanwhile they are not being properly informed about the serious side effects that this vaccine, which is being rushed through testing to the public in a matter of weeks, might have.

'Marcia Brazil' and 'Brandy M'

Marcia Brazil, a reality show contestant on VH1’s Rock of Love and currently Ricki Lake’s Charm School, was seen this weekend at the Spearmint Rhino gentleman’s club in Southern California, baring her breasts on stage.

According to our source, Marcia was at the gentleman’s club for a promotional event when she was encouraged onto the stage by the club’s DJ. When he said the words “take it off”, according to our source Marcia Brazil made a gesture with her hand asking for money. Someone threw a handful of bills into the air showering her with the bills, yet she didn’t see them and grabbed the microphone to address the crowd.

She told the crowd she’s never shown her breasts in public and if they wanted to see “they would have to pay”.

Someone else showered her with bills, and again she didn’t see this. She went on to say that her breasts were “all natural”, at which point another woman told her to look on the ground and when she saw the money laying there she then lifted her top completely.

Marcia Brazil has been on promotional events at gentleman’s clubs before, and there have been no prior reports of her ever going topless.

LezGetReal was unable to confirm whether Marcia Brazil was actually doing a promotional event at the time of the display, or whether she was at Spearmint Rhino that night simply to enjoy the show. There are still a few episodes of Ricki Lake’s Charm School left, and it is not clear how this weekend’s public display will affect her relationship with the show or VH1.

Twitter was all a buzz yesterday over a new Orbitz commercial. The commercial is set on a golf course and one of the golfers is wearing a shirt with an HRC logo on it. The logo looks to have been enlarged so that it really stands out. Those commenting on the internet wondered if the logo was intentional

The inclusion of the HRC logo was confirmed by Brian Hoyt, Orbitz’s vice president of corporate communications and government affairs.

Friday night on his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher, liberal talk show host Maher said what a lot of us are thinking lately, and compared the president to Lindsay Lohan…. in the papers a lot but not doing very much. “This is not what I voted for,” Maher said.

“What he needs in his personality is a little George Bush … What we need to do is to marry the good ideas that Barack Obama has (had?) with a little bit of that Bush attitude and certitude.”

Fierce Advocate Obama has so far done nothing to end Don’t Ask- Don’t Tell like he promised during the campaign and has backtracked on the his commitment to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act so far this past week that he is now operating pretty much on par with GW when dealing with most gay issues…

Oprah talked about marriage equality on her show this past Friday.

I am glad to see Oprah becoming more vocal on the topic. I wish she had been more vocal about Prop. 8 before it was passed. Hopefully her participation in highlighting the topic now will have some affect on the Obama administration and the future of LGBT rights.

The season finale of Bravo TV’s “Millionaire Matchmaker” with Patti Stanger is said to have a gay millionaire looking for love.

Billy Ray Cyrus is not taking comments made about his daughter Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana) so lightly.

Recently comedy and hip-hop artist turned talk show host Jamie Foxx made comments about the young actress and singer on Foxx’s radio talk show called the Foxxhole.

After a female co-host said “Miley is a little white bitch” this is what Foxx had to say:

“Make a sex tape and grow up. Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan and start seeing a lesbian and get some crack in your pipe. Catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat.”

Too hard to believe??

Foxx later apologized for the remarks, insisting he made the joke as a comedian.

Miley’s father, country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus, is not taking the comments so lightly saying there was “Nothing funny about it.” Billy Ray was quoted as saying “It was hurtful” and “Quite frankly, I think if I said those things about his daughter, he might not find it so comedic.”

Lesbians love Kathy Griffin, the stand-up comedian and actress.

A self-proclaimed “D-list celebrity”, she even has her own show on Bravo called Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, and is very vocal about her desire to make it to become an “A-list celebrity”. The cable television network Showtime is searching nationwide for gays and lesbians who want to come out to important people in their lives and are willing to do it on TV.

The network that brought us the L-Word and Queer as Folks has announced plans for documentary series called “Way Out that will profile gays and lesbians coming out to significant people in their lives.

Inspired by a recent San Francisco State University study that shows negative family response to a teen’s coming out made them than eight times more likely to have attempt suicide,” the show aims not only to help the people profiled and the LGBT community in general, but also to use television’s vast reach and power to enlighten and increase understanding of what it’s like to feel compelled to hide an essential part of oneself and will try to make those first baby steps out of the closet a little easier.

“Way Out” will offer subjects a forum in which to show what life in the closet is like, to explain why they’ve chosen to come out now and to accompany them during this transformational event.

The shows producers say they will treat the people profiled and their loved ones on with the utmost care, dignity and respect and will provide a support system of counselors and therapists throughout the process.

Jackie Warner from Bravo's Work Out

Jackie Warner will be on the Oprah Show today, Wednesday, March 25. The topic will be women talking about their relationships with other woman. They had husbands and boyfriends and then fell in love with another woman. Oprah says, “It’s more complicated then you think.” I don’t know about you but the concept seems pretty simple to me. Check out the preview.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was talking on her show and than all of a sudden Oprah Skyped in and told Ellen that she is going to be on the cover of O magazine!!

Now Ms DeGeneres does not give up easily earlier this year she announced that it was her goal to get on the cover of O magazine! Last year her goal was to get actor George Clooney in “George watch 08″ when she did not however get him in 2008 She came back in 09 fighting! with a new slogan “George is mine in 09″ After catching George she went onto trying to get on O magazine.

Now that her task is complete I wonder what Ms. DeGeneres will be seen doing next?

Kayla Tate is a 19 year old high school graduate looking to attend Winnipeg Technical for Carpentry. Kayla had a 19 year old mid-life crisis and decided that her voice needs to be heard, so she writes to help the LGBT community.

The story line about a homophobic landlord who makes life difficult for a tenant is not exactly new. In fact, that was the center of the storyline that ran through the majority of Three’s Company. In fact, the fact gays and lesbians have been showing up in the various media forms for some time. Those who follow anime may be aware of how Sailor Moon’s companions Haruka Tenoh and Michiru Kaioh, who are among the most famously out characters in anime and manga. Though, the American market was kind of shielded from this for some time.

In a recent story arc of As The World Turns, the characters of Luke and Noah end up trying to move in together, and their prospective landlord tells them that the empty apartment is rented. This, of course, violates the law. Noah wants to move on and find someplace else, but Luke is angry and decides to go after the landlord. So, Luke and his mom decide to stage a protest, and to make the whole issue of housing discrimination a part of his foundation.

Now, for the totally honest part of this. Even after watching the clip, I have no clue what any of this means. When someone says As The World Turns, I tend to think about Carol Burnett. When someone says General Hospital, I think about Veterinarian’s Hospital on the Muppets. Like it or not, I know little to nothing about Soap Operas. In fact, I tend to think of the movie Soap in which Whoopie Goldberg famously (or not that famously) says “He has no head! How do I write for a man who’s got no head?!”

It is, however, nice to see television shows dealing with major issues regarding discrimination. Many shows tend to skim passed these issues. While there have been some angry voices against CSI regarding the fact that many of the times in which we see a gay or lesbian character they are either the victim of or the perpetrator of a crime. However, it is a crime show, and there are a lot of people who are the victims of hate crimes. Additionally, we are not immune to being criminals ourselves. Still, it would be nice if one of the main characters on CSI or CSI: NY were to turn out to be gay or lesbian.

I will, however, point out that I do not watch a lot of television. In some ways, I am not unlike Dr. Maddow who has a segment devoted to popular culture every episode because, as she claims, that she needs just enough pop culture to be seen in public.

In what may be some of the best news of the current political season for Pittsburgh’s queer community, long time ally and media pundit Lynn Cullen has been back on Pittsburgh’s airwaves since March 9, 2009.

Cullen has long been known as Pittsburgh’s “Lone Liberal” and was recently fired from her long time home on WPTT AM when the station flipped to an all business format.  A listener and fan based campaign responded to rumors that WAMO AM 860 was considering adding the host to their line up, which includes The Bev Smith Show, the nation’s only national African-American Nightly Talk Show.

Shortly thereafter WAMO AM 860 confirmed Lynn Cullen’s arrival on their website, and she now hosts a two-hour talk show Monday through Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Portia de Rossi who recently married to TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, is starring in a new sitcom called “Better Off Ted,” featuring Portia as “Veronica,” and Jay Harrington as “Ted.”

The show focuses on Ted, the head of Research and Development at Veridian Dynamics. Veridian Dynamics is a large multinational corporation that loves a good profit without the morals. He is a single parent with a 7 year old daughter, Rose. When he’s at work, he watches over two scientists named Lem and Phil and a head tester named Linda, who he has very deep intimate romantic feelings for. Veronica, played by Portia is an emotionless, bold woman with no conscience and the boss of Ted, who she once had an affair with. Everything goes wrong when the company chronically freezes Phil the researcher. He begins to sit down and wonder about the moral of his company and what it’s all about.

The first episode of the new series was a hit!

Critics claim it was like watching “30 Rock” with some touches of absurdity from “Arrested Development.” In my opinion, this show was rather hilarious. It’s something different than what’s out there already and a comedy like no other. Sure, it’s another office-based show, but atleast this one’s funny. I guess we can all thank the director for that. I mean do we really need another reality show out there or a TV series that lacks in all aspects? This show is a must watch!!

eHarmony has been in the news quite a bit lately, and more recently made the news on Queerty.com for sponsoring The Newlywed Game shown on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

As you can see by the video below, a version of the classic game was played with Ellen and her wife Portia as one of the couples participating in the game. You can clearly see on the front of the seating box for contestant couples that the proud sponsor of the segment is non other than eHarmony.com…

This raises eyebrows with any LGBT who knows what has transpired between eHarmony and non-inclusion of same-sex couples on their site. The mere presence of the eHarmony logo on a seating box that Ellen and Portia are sitting in just seems so wrong.

There are two series shows on cable right now that are taking a chance by highlighting gay and lesbian story lines within their show.

Showtime has a new series about a woman with multiple personality disorder called The United States of Tara. In the series there is a storyline with the main characters son who is coming to terms with the fact that he is gay. He has a crush on a boy at school, and I have been watching the show to see how things play out.

This week’s story line included a ‘Hell House’ performance by the Evangelical church youth group that Tara’s son was recruited into.

The performance showed a teen girl having an abortion because she had sex with the whole football team, and also included a scene of hell. Of course there was fire and brimstone, and lost souls there, too. The narrator of the show went on to say who was there in hell, and he was yelling off “Movie Stars”, “Butt Fuckers”, and “Gavin Newsom”.

It was interesting to me that Gavin Newsom has become a name of someone you would see in hell.

Honestly, most scenes I have seen like this work with the names of the people in hell being something like “Adolf Hitler” or “Saddam Hussein”. Anyhow, in the end of the ‘Hell House’ on The United States of Tara, you could wind up in heaven according to the churches philosophy, but in the process Tara’s son is a silent witness to the bigotry and homophobic attitudes the church is perpetuating within its youth.

A cable series with a recently lesbian storyline on HBO is called Big Love.

This is a series about a polygamist family and their experiences. It’s an intimate look into a polygamist lifestyle, and interesting to note the different situations this family finds themselves in. Deciding whose turn it is to have a baby, whose turn it is to have a career, and whose turn is it to be intimate with their husband is one example of what we see the wives handle in this show. I have been watching this show here and there, and I have noticed a couple of times where there are lesbian moments between the women on the show.

For one thing it’s kind of interesting when the husband AND all 3 of his wives start ‘dating’ another woman as the potential 4th wife.

The first wife and her husband talk about the potential new wife and she says she likes her and wants to marry her. Her reasons are for wifely duty sharing of course, but it was a little different for me to see a straight woman interested in courting another straight woman.

This last episode I caught however was blatant, episode 31.

A woman played by Sandy Martin is shown in a suit having a meeting in what looks like a barn with a few men and the main man Roman. He orders her to obey her husband which turns out to be one of the other older men, or else. She reluctantly changes her clothes into a pink dress and takes her place by his side. She looked much better in the suit.

So these are two shows worth watching if you want to see how things play out on these story lines, or at the very least get a glimpse into two very different lifestyles and situations. The United States of Tara is brought to us by Showtime, and Big Love is brought to us by HBO.

In the end we are led to believe that it was Nikki Stevens who killed Jenny, but the final episode “Last Word” really left more questions than it gave answers.

If you read my predictions for the final season you will know that I suspected that Molly was responsible for Jenny’s death because I thought her death would have something to do with her tumultuous relationship with Shane. I was right that it would have something to do with Shane, because Nikki mentioned that she say how Jenny had her on lock down and it got her upset to see Shane like that. Right up until the end I wasn’t sure who did it, and even though I said I didn’t think it could be Dylan, I almost thought it was! I thought it could have been Bette, Tina, Kit, Max, any one of them right up until the end.

Here is how the episode played out…

It starts off with Shane in the interrogation room. Right away she is saying “Listen I cant tell you I didn’t think about it. I was kidding, its not like i would ever do anything like that.” As time goes on she begins to talk about what bugs her about relationships, where one person says ‘we’ in speaking for both of them. Then she tells that the day of her death Jenny was recording a video for Bette and Tina who were going away to New York. She said she couldn’t get a word in edge wise because Jenny was saying ‘we’ through their segment. We then see Jenny and Shane taping the segment and what Jenny says at the end of their segment is that with Bette and Tina leaving it will be an adventure for them to take their place as the supreme couple. Shane is grinning and bearing the whole thing. Jenny ends their goodbye to Bette and Tina video segment with “I promise… we are going to make.” (Referring to herself and Shane.) Shane just smiles uncomfortably.

At the Planet, Alice is telling Jamie that she loves Tasha – Jamie and Tasha are on one side of the table and Alice is on the other.

Alice is asking Tasha and Jamie to be honest about what is going on. Jamie says that nothing has happened between them. Alice knows that nothing happened physically, and that they haven’t admitted it to themselves. It’s obvious to Alice that Jamie and Tasha are like minded (unlike Alice and Tasha) when Jamie and Tasha have ordered the same meal. Tasha hasn’t said much, and when Alice tells them to just admit their feelings and that it is out of their control Tasha says she’s not going to accept that. Alice is upset and says that all her military training cant make her control her feelings.

Jamie says “Ok I admit it. I am only speaking for myself, but I have think I have fallen in love with Tasha.”

Alice says “Thank you… and fuck you.” Jamie says she’s sorry and it was the last thing she wanted to happen, and she doesn’t even think that Tasha is… Alice says “Oh yes, she is.” Tasha just looks away. Alice tells Tasha “Go. You’re free.” Jamie says “Oh God do not break up over me.” Tasha says “We’re not. Don’t do this.” Alice replies “When we’re having sex I don’t close my eyes and imagine someone else naked in the shower.” Tasha tells her “Fuck you.”

Jamie is saying she is sorry and for them to just get her out of the equation and things will go back to how they were.

Alice tells Tasha just give it a try, try it. Tasha is giving attitude and saying “Try what, what the fuck does that mean”. Alice grabs her things and says “If you don’t call me by the same time tommorrow I will know you made up you mind about what you want.” Tasha replies “Alice this has never happened to me before. You know that I live a life of honor and duty.” Alice doesn’t want her to stay with her out of a sense of duty, or because it’s the right thing to do. She walks out.

The next thing we see, Alice is in the interrogation room.

She says the only person she only really loved as much as Tasha was Dana. Then we see Dylan on the balcony waving to Jenny who is approaching the front door. Helena comes out to tell Dylan Jenny is there. They have a brief argument about Dylan angling to move in with Helena, and Dylan is upset that Helena doesn’t trust her.

Jenny is there to shoot their segment for the tribute video to Bette and Tina’s goodbye party so they get started on that.

Next we see Max being interrogated, talking about the girls and calling them more than friends less than family. We move over to Kit cleaning up out back for the party and up walks Kit. They are talking, Bette says they need to fix the railing on the second floor, and they talk about the process Bette and Tina have to go through to adopt a baby. Kit mentions that they might consider adopting Max’s baby. Bette says she thinks Max is ready to be a mom and they move on. Kit asks Bette why are they really moving since they just opened the fallery and remodeled their home. Bette confides that she is ready to get out of their because Jenny is all up in her business. She tells her that Kelly made a pass at her but she didn’t tell Tina. And she can’t tell her now because it would be a mess, but Jenny is saying she saw her and Kelly together. Kit asks her what she was doing, and Bette says nothing.

Kit is being interrogated now telling the police how loving this group of friends are, and how loyal they are.

Now we are back in time again and Shane is at Alice’s house talking about the situation with Tasha and Jamie, and Jenny. Shane says she is pretty much with Jenny because she feels responsible for her. Alice doesn’t understand why she would pick her, and then goes on to say she knows Jenny stole her idea and can prove it. Shane says it’s not about that.

We see Alice being interrogated and telling us that women drive her crazy.

Back in Alice’s room, Shane says if she walks away Jenny would go off the deep end, it either Jenny’s happiness or hers. We then see Dylan on the phone and when Helena walks by Dylan quickly hangs up. Helena is suspicious and Dylan is mad about that. Then Helena is being interrogated and says being rich is a curse. She never knows if anyone really cares for her if they are just with her for the money.

Back at their argument, Helena chases Dylan and apologizes.

She says trust is hard for her. Helena and Dylan make out and wind up on the kitchen counter. Dylan asks Helena if she trusts her, and Helena says yes. Dylan grabs a knife – yikes! She puts it next to Helena’s neck, and then slices off her shirt strap. Whew! That was kinda hott, but scary. They commence to making love.

Next we see Jenny editing the video to Bette and Tina with Phylis and Joyce talking.

Then we see Bette and Tina making love, and Tina notices they have to fix the second floor railing. They kiss a bit and then Bette says that when they get to New York she would like for them to get married. More intimacy now, but this time to a Sade song “By Your Side”. ;o)

Now Bette’s in interrogation, telling us Tina is the love of her life.

Then we see Shane walking up to her house in the morning, and she sees Bette and Tina outside. They are talking about Jenny using Shane’s studio, and about the situation with Alice and Tasha. Bette thinks that Jenny gave Shane the studio so she would have something else to take away from her. Tina says Jenny’s heart is in the right place and that was harsh. Bette says “Yeah her heart is in the right place but she’s misplaced her meds.”

Interrogating Tina, she says she was jealous of Kelly Wentworth, Bette’s business partner.

Helena sees Dylan on the phone out the window again and sees Dylan leave. Alice is on the phone with Shane saying that Tasha and Jamie are probably having a good time having everything in common. She says they are so the same they can masturbate and it would be the same thing. Jenny comes home and is freaking out so Shane gets off the phone with Alice.

Jenny has to finish her tribute video but has lots of other things to do. Shane offers to do a few things for her to help her out and Jenny calms down.

Bette and Tina are cooking and Kit comes by with Sunny bringing home Angelica from the zoo. Sunny has to change for work and Bette offers him to use the powder room because she doesn’t like men in her bathroom. Tina offers the new bathroom and Bette is peeved a bit.

Shane brings Jenny all the things that they need and then is off to get her gift to Bette and Tina.

Right when she leaves Dylan walks up. Shane calls Alice back like she promised.

Back at Bette and Tina’s house everyone is chatting and when sunny comes out to leave angelica says to him “bye daddy”. It was a bit awkward but Tina says its normal.

Helena and Alice are talking on the phone now and mentions that Shane saw Dylan at the studio with Jenny.

We see Dylan telling Jenny not to tell Helena about something she confided in her about. Jenny said Dylan hasn’t come clean to Helena when she promised she would. jenny tells her to just tell her the truth. Dylan says that if Helena finds out that she knew that Nikki Stevens was a set up before she walked into Hit she would… “So your liar” says Helena from downstairs! All three get into a loud conversation about Dylan being a con artist and relationships being based on trust. Jenny tries to smooth things over a bit and says she should have never been involved in any of it. Helena tells Jenny “Fuck you Shechter you’ve been getting involved in my life for far too long now.” and then walks out. Dylan follows her and they talk more on the street. Helena will never know for sure if Dylan would have passed on Nikki Stevens and she can’t trust her – thanks to Jenny.

Shane is buying the gift for Bette and Tina when she sees Molly in the store.

She is happy to see her, but Molly tells her that she heard and Shane and Jenny and it was weird to hear that after she had seen how upset Jenny was the night she dropped off Shane’s jacket with a letter in it. Shane doesn’t have any idea what she is talking about, but since Molly is with someone and seems to be happy Shane doesn’t say anything to Molly except for small talk.

Alice shows up to Bette and Tina’s party, and Max and Helena are already there. They start talking about Jenny and nobody has anything nice to say.

Then we see Max being interrogated, and he says that Jenny was the only one who could see him for who he was and help him accept it. He said Jenny could see a person’s innermost desires and thoughts, and it was kind scary actually. Back at the party Alice says she has decided to make up with Jenny this evening for Shane’s sake and Bette mentions that they should all give it a try. They all agree. We see another interrogation and Helena is talking about how special all the friends are. She says all of their names one by one… except for Jenny.

Now we see Jenny and Kit going into the room she is using to show the video tribute.

She closes the curtain to the window with the view of the pool. Kit asks her about the situation with Bette and Kelly, saying Bette said nothing happened. Jenny says she doesn’t want to hurt Bette and Tina, and the she can see her friends want her to shut up and go away. Kit asks her for proof, and Jenny says she doesn’t want to show her. Kit says “If you have proof, I want you to show me.” Jenny plugs her cell phone into the TV and tells her she can press play.

We see the cell phone video and it looks like Bette has her head in between Kelly’s legs.

Next interrogation we are seeing is Bette’s. She is describing Jenny Schecter saying shes is talented but very complicated and complex. Then we see Shane and she is looking through Jenny’s closet for the jacket and letter. She pulls down the ladder to the attic and goes up. She looks around a bit and then finds the jacket, with the letter in it. She sits down to read the letter. After she is done she gets up to leave and accidentally pulls a sheet with her foot – which reveals the negatives to the movie ‘Lez Girls’. During her interogation Tina is asked about the movie.

Bette leads everyone upstairs to gives them a tour of the new second story (Tina stays downstairs).

Tasha is being interrogated telling them Alice has one of the biggest hearts of anybody she knows. At the party, the others are looking at the second story Kit walks in and asks to talk to Bette privately. Everyone goes downstairs and Kit tells Bette about the video. Bette denies it and doesn’t know what she is talking about and they start yelling. Kit is saying “Don’t lie I saw it; you fucked up.” Shane comes over and tells Tina to go with her somewhere.

Nikki is being interrogated and asks for a lawyer.The sergeant mentions that nobody else has asked for a lawyer.

At the party Jenny comes out and asks everyone to come to the media room to see the movie. Jenny goes upstairs to look for Bette and Tina while everyone else goes to the media room. Shane is showing Tina the negatives next door. Tina is shocked and mad.

Jenny finds Bette upstairs, and they are on the back balcony where the railing is broken.

Bette says “Jenny. Look I just want you to know something. My family and the life that I have worked so hard to rebuild for them means everything in the world to me. And there isn’t anything that I wouldn’t do to preserve or protect them.” Jenny says “I would never do anything to hurt your family. Bette I love you and I love Tina.”  Bette says “Well I’m glad to hear that because you know what? I don’t really care if you think that I fucked Kelly. All I really care about is that you know that I will not abide anyone who threatens my family.”

We see the part of Bette’s interrogation where she describes Jenny again.

Bette says Jenny is “complex, complicated, talented. Very talented. Self destructive, sometimes very generous, but complicated and complex.” The video is playing in the media room, with Jenny’s ex boyfriend Tim talking. Tina looks for Jenny in there. She says to herself “How could you do that to me? I’m just going to put her out of her fucking misery.” Alice and Shane are on the porch talking. Alice tells Shane she has decided to forgive jenny and make peace with her. Shane asks why. Alice says she is alone now and she needs her friends and since they are going to be together… at which point Shane says they aren’t together.

In the interrogation room Alice is saying “What does this have to do with who killed Jenny”. The sergeant replies “So you think someone killed Jenny.”

Bette runs into Tina, and says she was looking in on Angie. Tina said she was getting a sweater from upstairs. Tina says they need to talk and asks if Bette has seen Jenny. Max rushes in and he says he just went to get his sweater. He says he felt a kick for the first time and they all hug. Tina asks if Max has seen Jenny he says no.

Jenny’s dog is around the pool whining and sniffing

In the media room Max, Kit Shane, Alice, Helena, Bette and Tina  are watching the video and all of the old characters saying bye, and Kit says its a parade of all her exes. We see Helena’s mom and Jody and Marina from France. They wonder where Jenny is. They see Carmen on the video wishing Bette and Tina the best. They wonder if they should pause the movie. Alice says she is supposed to be her friend tonight so she’ll go find her. We see Kit talk on the video, then Shane, then Alice, then everybody together. The main girls and Max are saying “We love you Bette and Tina. We are gonna miss you Tina and Bette.”  Then Shane and Jenny give the final segment. Then Alice comes in… she is freaked out and all she can say is “Jenny, Jenny” and they all run out to see whats going on. There are splashes into the pool and next we the police pulling up, and the sergeant getting out.

She gets briefed as she walks into the house, and we see the body pulled out of the water.

Next we see the cops pull their weapons out around the pool pointing towards the bushes and shouting “Come out with your hands over your head!” and we see Nikki come out of the bushes. As the police took her through the house in handcuffs Shane says “Nikki what are you doing here?” Nikki says “I just came to talk to Jenny. I saw what was going on at the dance marathon and how she was keeping you like a prisoner and I just wanted to tell her that…” Shane says”Nikki shut up. Just shut up”

Outside Tasha walks up and seeing the police and such she is worried. she shows her police academy badge to the officer outside to get in.

She goes into the living room and says “Alice come, here are you okay? I’m here.  I’m not going anywhere. They hug and Alice is surprised. The sergeant says “I think this is going to take a bit longer than we thought.” They say “We’ll do whatever you need for us to do. “We’re a very tight knit group.” “We take care of each other.” “We don’t know what happened out there. “You probably just want us to come down to the station.”

The video finishes in the room with Jenny saying that Bette and Tina changed her life and she will never forget them so thank you for everything.

The last thing we see is all the girls nice rides pulling up and parking next to each other in front of the police station. They all get out and walk up looking sexy as hell and we get to see each of the girls (and Max too) one by one as they strut their stuff on their way to the interrogation into who killed Jenny Schechter.

So many different stories were carried out this final season, but for the final episode the big question that begs to be answered is who killed Jenny?

Way back in episode 1 “Long Night’s Journey Into Day”, we saw Jenny’s body pulled out of Bette and Tina’s pool. The police were asking her friends questions in connection with her death. Then we got to go back in time and see the events that led up to that night and try to come to our own conclusion about what’s going to happen in the final episode which airs on Showtime Sunday March 8th, and then re-airs all week.

At the start of each episode throughout the season, the intro clip includes a character ranting in some way about Jenny, saying they are going to kill her for a variety of reasons.

In episode 2 “Least Likely” Niki Stevens has a rant about Jenny calling her a ’showmance’. She says Jenny is a liar and a user and she is “dead meat”.

In episode 3 “LMFAO” the negative to the movie was stolen and Aaron thinks Jenny took it. Since Jenny is Tina’s friend he is holding her personally responsible. Tina says to herself “Jenny I am going to fucking kill you”.

In episode 4 “Leaving Los Angeles”, Max is there with Tom and a few of the girls when Jenny comes to the table she tells Max that he is a beautiful mother. Jenny goes on and on about his breasts and hips, and Max gets up and leaves. In the restroom Max breaks down crying, saying that he hates the hormones, his tits, his hips, and Jenny Schechter.

In episode 5 “Litmus Test”, After getting off the phone Tina mentions that Jenny sold a new script for half a million dollars. Alice is listening closely when Tina tells the girls that the plot of the story is a talk show host who meets a cop and it turns into a murder mystery – the exact same plot as the treatment Alice had talked about with Jenny. Alice says “You guys that’s my story!” She storms off saying “Shechter is so fucking dead”.

In episode 6 “Lactose Intolerant”, everybody is at Jenny’s house, decorating for Max’s baby shower with a Willy Wonka theme. Helena and Dylan arrived at the baby shower, and Jenny tells her congratulations for passing the test. She tells Dylan about the test and how everyone watched her on the screen with Nikki Stevens.

In episode 7 “Last Couple Standing” the girls are at the fundraiser dance off that Jamie, Alice and Tasha put together at the Hit club. Jenny confronts Bette in private about what she saw and Bette tells Jenny she was wrong about what she thinks she saw. Jenny mentions that she is going to tell Tina if Bette doesn’t.

When the Seargant arrived at Bette an Tina’s house in episode 1, the girls that were there sitting in the living room were from left to right Shane, Bette, Tina (with Angelica on her lap), Alice, Helena, Max and Kit.

Although having had problems with Jenny before, Nikki and Dylan were not present in this scene so I am ruling them out as possible suspects in my book. One other person besides all who were on the couch that I would consider a suspect would be Shane’s ex girlfriend Molly. I don’t think that Max’s ex, Tom, or Bette’s ex Kelly (or Jody) would be suspects in Jenny’s death in my book. One thing to note is that Shane had a towel wrapped around her in the episode where we learned of Jenny’s death, and Bette is in her robe with wet hair.

There were plenty of motives to kill Jenny Schechter, but some of the people I have talked to think Jenny might have killed herself, or her death was an accident.

There was so much drama swirling around Jenny though, that I believe someone did have a hand in her death. Some of the more emotionally charged situations in Jenny’s life included her troubled relationship with Shane, and the pictures on her cell phone of Bette. I think that it’s possible Shane would snap on Jenny in some way, maybe bump her head in a scuffle or something like that since she has been aggressive in their arguments and told Jenny blatantly to back off. Jenny seemed to be in psycho love with Shane since the speech she made at the Les Girls wrap party. Bette, however, is not one in my book that would jeopardize her life and since her and Tina were thinking about going to New York there was an out there for that situation.

Now, about Molly. We never really got a resolution to that situation.

Molly came to the door, and Jenny told her about Shane and Nikki to purposely drive her away from Shane since Jenny was in love with her. Shane mentioned to Jenny that she was distraught over Molly and that was why she messed around with Nikki in the first place. I think Jenny made a mental note of that, and when Molly came around she told her things that would make her stay away from Shane forever. Then there was the jacket she hid in the attic that Molly left for Shane, and the photo of Molly that Shane was developing in the dark room at the photography studio. Plus, in every episode when Shane and Jenny were together there was this dismal sad music. This leads me to believe that Jenny’s death has something to do with Shane, although I am not sure it would have been Shane directly so that is why Molly comes to mind also.

Yes there are lots of ideas about who it could be and what could have happened, but the only way to truly find out is to tune in and watch the season finale of the hit lesbian show on Showtime March 8th.
