It is no lie that these people who would keep us from equality are bigots… and Malcolm would have had no problem telling them that truth

Paula I’d rather lose any day on a mountain of truth as opposed to winning on the speck of a lie. Obviously there’s disagreement between yourself and I about this matter. And by they way, Malcolm X never lied to anyone about anything—another one of my heroes who’s example of integrity, honesty and courage serves some of us to this day. Too bad, his example among other historical civil rights leadership no doubt failed to influence you.

Ah yes… you’re from California… I went to your site… the people who gave us that wonderful Prop8 victory….

If you have not been paying attention the dirt has been getting thrown in this mix in this election or a long time now… and it was not by us here at LGR…

but then that is why you LOST in CA… because you did not pay attention to the fact it was happening out there either and went about with your little higher ground game while the dirt throwers went on to take away your rights.

Instead of talking all that Ghandi, King and Chavez, you should have been ACTING a little more like Malcolm X, Huey P.Newton and Che Gueverra .

I am not implying that someone who votes Yes on 1 is a supporter or member or even a sympathizer with the KKK… no implication at all… I am UNEQUIVOCALLY saying if they vote for it they ARE no better than a Klansman…. they are the same people.

That is the truth about the people who oppose us and you had better learn it before you go back at it in California.

I’m sorry Paula. It lacks integrity. The KKK is an organization. If they came out and said that they supported Yes On 1 then there’d be no problem with that ad. But the fact is, the KKK has not. I know what the editorial implies. And as strongly as I am for marriage equality and the equality of all Americans on every level the ad is wrong. To imply or suggest that someone who votes Yes on 1 is a supporter or member or even a sympathizer with the KKK is wrong, misleading, dishonest and simply not true. No On 1 has run a very clean campaign. All this does is throw dirt into the mix. Dirt that campaign is not responsible for. I live in California and we’re gearing up for our marriage equality battle in 2010 or 2012. Many CA gay activists are either in Maine right now or phone banking to Maine. I’m one of the phone bankers. And many of us are appalled by that ad. Martin Luther King didn’t have to slander, manipulate or lie. Ghandi didn’t find it necessary. Neither did Caesar Chavez. And I’m very saddened by those like yourself who feel it is necessary today. It sends a dishonest message and you know it.

I think that picture pretty much says how we here at LGR feel about anyone voting YES on one… because if they are voting yes on ONE… then theyARE no better the the hooded bigot depicted in the picture.

I really wished you’d take down that ad which features a hooded individual ala KKK in support of YES On 1 in Maine. The problem with it is that people are confusing it with one of No On 1 campaign’s official ads. And it’s not. There’s been a lot of complaints about it because so far, no one’s heard that the KKK has endorsed Yes On 1. To imply that the KKK does without proof is a lie. Therefore the ad puts No On 1 in a not so good position. It says lack of integrity. It’s misleading. And that’s not what the No On 1 campaign is about. We don’t have to lie or mislead anyone. Equality is about justice. Not about winning at any cost so that we compromise our truth.

If you feel strongly enough to put your name on the dotted line, saying in effect that others don’t deserve the same rights that you have, then you should have the courage of your convictions and let it be known.

I pray that God has mercy on the hateful faux-Christians, but he said more than once that “you may only reap that which you sow, and “if you judge another man for anything, you are guilty of the same thing yourself.

I apologize for my false coreligionists. They have tried to make you believe that God hates you, but that just is not the truth. I’m so sorry that they use their false faith as a weapon. Please join me in praying for them. We can be better than they are!

Paula I’m talking about using stem cell derived sperm to create biological children with another woman, not sperm donation or other ways people have children. All marriages (even of 80 year olds) should always have a fundamental right to attempt to conceive children using the couple’s own genes, there should be no age limits, it should never be wrong for them to join their genes to create offspring.

I have a 60 year old aunt… last month she was married… to a man…. I doubt there will be much procreating going on for her, but your argument here would seem to say she too should be denied the right to marry.

In Washington State we are fighting for exactly what you suggest… but you and yours are trying to deny that too.

All the protections that they mention in the ad can be given with a well-written uniform Civil Union law that gives all the rights of marriage EXCEPT the right to conceive children together. We shouldn’t make same-sex procreation, which might never be possible and would be highly unethical and wasteful and disrespectful of adoptive families, a higher priority than achieving equal protections in all other respects and federal recognition for same-sex couples in all 50 states.
