So far, Sam’s mother has been mentioned on the show, but never seen in the previous two seasons. The guest shot is also something that appears to be special to Lynch’s family. Lynch’s stepdaughter is such a huge fan of the show that during her wedding ceremony with Dr. Lara Embry, her now wife, the show was mentioned in the vows.

Lynch is currently on the show Glee as the resident villain Sue Sylvester. Lynch has appeared in many films and shows, including a guest shot on Criminal Minds playing the mother of Dr. Spencer Reid, Diana Reid. Her character in that show is schizophrenic, which can be very hard to portray on the screen.

Lynch will be appearing on iCarly on 11 September at 8pm EDT, 7pm CDT.

Lesbians everywhere hated the theme song to the original L Word, but when spinoff The Real L Word premiered, the theme song was cute, fun, pop candy. Leaving lesbians everywhere saying, “Wait…who sings that?”

The group behind the song is Love Darling. They are an indie rock trio out of Hollywood, fronted by queer hottie Shay Magro. Also there are two other guys in the band, if you are into that, Mike Wolpe handles the bass, guitar & keys and Christian Jovanny Trujillo is on drums & percussion. The group is on their second album, the first was Pawnshop Radio ON and their newest is Sunshine Dust.

Let me tell you, Sunshine Dustis hot. In a summer full of disappointing music, Love Darling is giving the music world a piping hot injection of awesome. The band has said that their influence includes Smashing Pumpkins and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and that is evident in their music. They are hard enough to be rock and soft enough to appeal to the mainstream. Sunshine Dust delivers music that is repetitive enough to be catchy without the mindless repetition that plagues most of today’s music. The band’s lyrics are original and relatable without becoming mushy or pretentious. Shay Magro has a sultry voice with an edge. She sounds a little like Kiyomi from Hunter Valentine, but smoother and softer. If you love Hunter Valentine, you can’t miss Love Darling.

The first single is This Time, it’s a solid offering from the album and represents the band’s trademark style. A lot of the time, a band will suck you in with one song and then once you hear the rest of the album, it’s a big let down. However, those who purchase the entire album won’t be disappointed, This Time is not the best song Sunshine Dust has to offer. Other strong titles are Cadence, Close to Me, On the Line and my personal favorite, Forget This Part.

Singer/Songwriter Jewel has a new album to shill, so she went on Chelsea Lately to try and let someone who cares know. No, I don’t care about her music and chances are you haven’t cared since “Foolish Games” came out. “Why are you being so hard on, Jewel?” You are probably asking yourself. I know, I know, I never thought I would be lambasting Jewel either. I mean Jewel? Who cares!

Well, so she was blabbering about her album and about how she and her husband are backpacking around the country when she decided to tell the world that while she travels with her husband, she wears “lesbian shoes.” You know, like “ugly comfortable lesbian shoes.” Because lesbians wear ugly shoes.  Girl, don’t insult my shoes. You don’t know me. I’m assuming that Jewel isn’t referring to lesbian shoes such as these pink, peeptoe, hidden platform Christian Louboutins that I have been wearing all summer. Because those would be a bitch to travel in.

And the final two Emmys went to Modern Family and Mad Men.  The show Modern Family has been noted for the fact that it has a gay couple with a child.  Modern Family will even have a gay kiss sometime next seasons.  The show beat out Curb Your Enthusiasm, Glee, Nurse Jackie, The Office and 30 Rock for the Emmy.  The comedy has won rave reviews, and was expected to win instead of Glee because it is a more traditional sitcom.  So far, despite the fact that they will have a gay kiss, it does not appear that they will have any picketing from Westboro Baptist Church.

Mad Men won yet again for Best Drama beating out Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Good Wife, Lost and True Blood.  Lost was in its final season in which nothing really got answered.  True Blood, which is about vampires, has had some notice as having parallels to the LGBT community and the controversy surrounding people being out of the coffin. . .er closet.  It also stars Anna Paquin, who recently revealed that she is, indeed, bisexual.

That wraps up the coverage of the Emmys.  Our apologies for not being able to get everything up.  One disappointing note is that Sir Ian McKellen lost for his role in The Prisoner.

Archie Panjabi won for her role on The Good Wife. She was nominated against Sharon Gless of Burn Notice, Rose Byrne of Damages, Christine Baranski of The Good Wife, Christina Hendricks of Mad Men, and Elisabeth Moss also of Mad Men. For many, the loss by Hendricks was probably something of a disappointment as they would probably have loved to see the busty actress get up on stage. Panjabi is a native of London and her parents are Sikhs. This was her first nomination and win.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama

Aaron Paul won for his role in Breaking Bad. He won against Martin Short from Damages, Terry O’Quinn of Lost, Michael Emerson of Lost, John Slattery of Mad Men, and Andre Braugher of Men of a Certain Age. It was the second nomination and first win for Paul. Aaron Paul does not appear to be related to either Ron Paul nor Rand Paul.

Outsanding Lead Actress in a Drama

Kyra Sedgwick won for the Closer, a show that recently had an episode with a transwoman character played by Beau Bridges, who lost for Outstanding Guest for that role. She beat Connie Britton of Friday Night Lights, Glenn Close of Damages, Julianna Margulies of The Good Wife, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU, and January Jones of Mad Men.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama

Bryan Cranston won for Breaking Bad. He beat out Michael C. Hall of Dexter, Kyle Chandler of Friday Night Lights, Hugh Laurie of House, Matthew Fox of Lost, and Jon Hamm of Mad Men.

Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series

The Daily Show won once again. The show helmed by Jon Stewart has had a strong season, including several parodies of Glenn Beck, including one where he went after Bert of Sesame Street. It beat out The Colbert Report, Real Time With Bill Maher, Saturday Night Live, and The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. The victory came despite the drama that marked Conan O’Brien’s departure from The Tonight Show and Stephen Colbert’s trip to Iraq.

Making nerds look good and sexy, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory. He was nominated against Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Matthew Morrison of Glee, Tony Shalhoub of Monk, Steve Carell of The Office, Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock. Tony Shalhoub was nominated for his role in Monk, which came to a conclusion this past year. Monk won three Emmys in the past for his role in Monk. Alec Baldwin has one two for his role on the show that often tapes just a few floors up from Keith Olbermann.

For Best Directing in a Comedy, Ryan Murphy continued the winning streak for Glee by beating out Paris Barclay, also nominated for Glee, as well as Jason Winer of Modern Family, allen Coulter of Nurse Jackie and Don Scardino of 30 Rock.

The winner for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy went to Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family. The actor, who wanted to be a clown when he grew up, is one half of the gay couple in the series. He nominated opposite Ty Burrell, also of Modern Family, Jon Cryer of Two and a Half Men, Chris Colfer, of Glee, and Neil Patrick Harris, of How I Met Your Mother. He was also nominated against the man who plays his boyfriend on Modern Family Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd won for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. The two wrote the pilot for Modern Family.

Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Lynch, , gay actors, actresses, writers, producers and directors have a multitude of nominations.  In the Supporting Actor in a Comedy category, half of the nominees are gay, and a fourth is nominated for playing gay.  The Advocate has done our homework in its countdown to the Emmys. ! A collective thanks in the coming out climate – mayby a few closet doors will open to reveal more..

Gay, Gay friendly, an industry comes to life- or should we say would never have been but for our brothers and sisters; as I fondly remember my own Hollywood days, with an ex- a film Editor who chose to stay quiet for fear of no jobs. The irony- the closet was shut tight not only to the hetero colleagues but queer to queer too! Ah those were the 80’s and this be the 2010’s-

Best Comedy Series

Glee and Modern Family seem to be running neck and neck for the win, according to most predictions, with Glee eking out a win. Other nominees are Nurse Jackie, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, and The Office.

Best Drama Series

Mad Men and True Blood are both gay favorites and both nominated, and while both are deserving, Mad Men is the critical favorite. Still, some are predicting Lost will take the prize over the other nominees, including The Good Wife, Dexter, and Breaking Bad.

Best Comedy Actor

Glee’s Matthew Morrison scored a surprise nomination, but most predictions are giving this prize to The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons. Other nominees are Steve Carell for The Office, Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock, Tony Shalhoub for Monk, and Larry David for Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Best Comedy Actress

United States of Tara’s Toni Collette has won this prize before, but this year seems to be Edie Falco’s turn for the also gay-inclusive Nurse Jackie. Lea Michele of Glee will have to settle for a nod, as will Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the now-canceled New Adventures of Old Christine, Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation, and Tina Fey for 30 Rock.

Best Supporting Actor Comedy

Packed with actors who are gay and actors who are playing gay, most predictions are handing this award to one of two nominees for Modern Family — Eric Stonestreet as deliciously over-the-top Cameron and Ty Burrell as his straitlaced brother-in-law. Glee’s Chris Colfer may be a dark horse. Other nominees are Jesse Tyler Ferguson for Modern Family, Neil Patrick Harris for How I Met Your Mother, and Jon Cryer for Two and a Half Men.

Best Supporting Comedy Actress

The best chance at a gay win goes to Jane Lynch as evil (if misunderstood) coach Sue Sylvester on Glee. Modern Family’s Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara will give her a run for her money, but Lynch has a solid lead. Other nominees are Holland Taylor for Two and a Half Men, Jane Krakowski for 30 Rock, and Kristen Wiig for SNL.

Best Supporting Drama Actress

As bisexual private investigator Kalinda on The Good Wife, Archie Panjabi was undoubtedly the breakout star of this TV season. But she has some stiff competition from the Mad Men girls, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss. Other nominees are Christine Baranski for The Good Wife, Rose Byrne for Damages, and the dark horse, Queer as Folk’s Sharon Gless for Burn Notice.

The dancer partnered with Cho has not been revealed, but the new dancers apparently begin learning how to move with their partners on the dance floor beginning this day. So far, all of this is speculation.

According to reports, basketball player Rick Fox, singer Michael Bolton, TV reality star Audrina Patridge, Jersey Shore hunk (of what?) The Situation, David Hasselhoff, singer Brandy, and Florence Henderson will all be competing as well. ABC will not comment until Monday with regards to who will be there.

Stonestreet asserts that it will be the fourth episode when the two kiss. He stated “It’s a sweet moment for our show, not just a sweet moment for Mitch and Cam.”

Ferguson joked, though, about the possibility of his winning an Emmy and where it will go “I just bought a new house and there’s no space for anything so I think it would have to go in a box for a while, or a door stop. I think that would be awesome. In the freezer maybe.”

On the second day of filming, Spears wore a white trouser suit similar to the outfit worn by Madonna for the promotion of their collaborative song. Heather Morris, who plays Glee member Brittany, played Britney Spears’ role in the re-imagined video.

On the first day on the set, Spears tweeted to her followers “Glee. About to do my first shot of the day for Glee tweeties! Here we goooo!” and “What’s up GLEEKS? Having so much fun on set!! Can’t wait for you guys to see the episode!”

Apparently TV boss Ryan Murphy was pleased with Spears’ performance and he is already making plans to have her back on the show soon. He stated “Probably, yeah… probably… Britney came this week and shot, and I got to hang out with Britney. She was sweet, she was great.”

The episode featuring Spears will debut on 28 September.

Over all, the reason why Glee might not do as well as some would hope is that the Emmy voters tend to be older and more Conservative than the mainline audience that the high school comedy is aiming for.

Glee is still considered the leading contender for best comedy, and actress Jane Lynch, who recently married her long time girlfriend, is seen as more than likely to win best supporting actress for her role as the scheming cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester.  The show, though, faces tough competition from the more traditional sitcom Modern Family, well, traditional in terms of format as Modern Family does involve a gay couple.  It also faces off against three time Emmy winner 30 Rock.

O’Neil stated “If you ask most American TV lovers, they think ‘Glee’ is going to win; if you ask most Hollywood insiders they would say ‘Modern Family’; but if you ask Emmy historians they would probably say ‘30 Rock’ has the edge. It’s a fascinating match-up.”  Modern Family has already one three technical awards in the Emmys, and Glee won two.

NBC may have allowed same-sex couples to apply for the “Modern Love” wedding contest, but that does not mean that any of those couples were going to make it to the final round.  The four finalists were revealed on this morning’s Today Show, and none of them are same-sex couples.  The show actually extended the contest deadline and called for same-sex couples to apply after facing pressure from GLAAD over their decision to exclude lesbians and gays from the contest.

The winners of the contest will be married on-air on 6 October.  What the entire process regarding them being chose has not been fully explained, but it is likely that the same-sex couples were not excluded based upon their sexual orientation.  The likelihood is that, given the short announcement time, that there were not many lesbian and gay couples who signed up.

Miller was out in Manchester to see his father, the comic Vince Miller, perform. The two thugs threw punches at him, but according to his Twitter page “I was attacked by a couple of lads tonight but escaped unharmed I just don’t want people worrying.” After some 12,000 followers responded, he updated that it was related to the series.

According to Donovan at the Breakthrough of the Year Awards, “It was cool when they came to me with it, I was honored, flattered that they thought I could take on something like this and handle it in the way it is being written and what we shot so far is done very, very smart, very intelligent. It’s really going to deal with his inner turmoil, the battle, and the struggles for self acceptance that I don’t think gets addressed enough.”

The show set in the 90210 zip code (basically part of California) is about teenagers growing up. The show is essentially a teenage set soap opera.

The character’s coming out also comes as Donovan goes from being having a recurring role on the show to being a staple on the show.

Kayla has a live in girlfriend, and is an avid soccer player. She has some modeling experience, but mostly on small runways at local clubs. She is, apparently, very excited about the opportunity. She has stated regarding this opportunity “Being the openly gay girl in the house, I was afraid of how the others would receive me.”

How the other models received her, will, of course, be part of the show. Lesbian and gay couples are not uncommonly seen in reality TV shows, but usually not of this kind.

Before appearing on “The Real L Word” Stamie Karakasidis was best known for her successful stand-up act at Comedy 90210. Stamie dated one of the principle characters on “The Real L Word,” Tracy and garnered fans both of herself and her three towheaded children. Photographer Aimee Boschet attended one of Stamie’s comedy sets and caught the reality star celebrating with comedian Erin Foley and John W. McLaughlin of “We Have to Stop Now” fame.

Elisabeth Hasslebeck…the thorn in the LGBT side of otherwise liberal talkshow, The View.Recently the conservative lady caused a stir by saying that ‘later in life’ lesbians were only gay because they couldn’t get men. Last year, she antagonized America’s lesbian sweetheart, Portia DeGeneres, nee De Rossi over same sex marriage. She has also angered Melissa Etheridge over her stance on Prop 8. Let’s not even GO into her feud with Rosie O’Donnell or Kathy Griffin. However, it seems like Hasslebeck is singing a new tune.. a showtune.

In an interview with Fancast, Hasslebeck tries to change her image.

What are some common misperceptions about you?

Oh, gosh, there are so many. They’re really funny. One is that I’m a super neat-freak conservative [and] perfect, like, a Stepford wife. [Laughs] I mean, there are times I wish for that sort of organization and natural tendency to have this perfect home. And without Tim, my husband, who is naturally neat, organized and has everything in order, I tend towards disaster. [Also] I am not ultra-ultra-conservative on every issue. I actually support gay marriage.

That may be an opinion that would surprise people.

I think the gay marriage thing would definitely surprise people. I mean, for some people, it will surprise them to the point that they won’t want to hear it. “No, that can’t be, I really want to have this sort of idea of her in my head,” so I sort of rain on their parade there. I am a person that does believe that life begins at conception, but I also don’t believe that the government should tell women what to do with their bodies. So I’m torn there in terms of supporting laws [for or against abortion]. I always say I would rather change a heart than a law. I think it has to start there. Always trying to mandate, mandate, mandate this or that is not the way that I believe this country should run.

While Elisabeth supports same-sex marriage, it’s clear she doesn’t know too much about it. Educated supporters usually refer to it as same-sex marriage or marriage equality. But that’s ok, baby steps rights? Elisabeth doesn’t say so, but there is no way she has always been pro marriage equality. This is most likely a recent revelation and I hope that maybe it helps to open her eyes and lead her down a path of acceptance of others.

Also, I lied. Of COURSE we will talk about her feuds with Rosie and Kathy! She addresses the issue unsatisfactorily in the interview:

The heated, emotional on-air argument you had with Rosie O’Donnell in May 2007 may have been the most dramatic of all the moments we might group together as “The Tales of Elisabeth.” Was that your worst experience, or the worst period of time for you, at ‘The View?’

I won’t talk too much about that subject only because I believe that it feeds what people tend to go back to, and it wasn’t the most incredible moment, it wasn’t the most dramatic moment, it wasn’t the most, you know, life-changing moment for anybody involved. And that moment, even in of itself, didn’t define the entire season with Rosie. Actually, I truly enjoyed that [season] and I think … there was a friendship there. But I’ll leave it at that. That moment wasn’t as horrific as everyone likes to make it out to be.

What about Kathy Griffin? Would you like to take this opportunity to clarify what you said about her when you criticized her this summer for suggesting that the daughters of Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown were prostitutes? You used the word “scum” in talking about Kathy. Is that what you meant to say?

I believe I asked Joy [Behar], “If somebody called your daughter a prostitute, what would you think of them? I’d call them scum.” So I was actually saying, if anybody called your daughter that, I’d say they’re scum. It’s laughable to me that I’m the bad guy for calling someone out for calling someone’s daughter a prostitute when they’re not. Maybe there are a few people on earth who haven’t hurt someone. We’ve all been there, we’ve all hurt someone’s feelings, we’ve all done something wrong. There’s a difference between doing it unintentionally and doing it intentionally time and time again. That’s all I’ll say.

Last week, Glenn Beck made news when he said that he didn’t think issues like abortion or gay marriage were all that important and didn’t pose a threat to the nation.

Now, while Lezgetreal honors him with its annual Schmuck Generosa award,  Glenn Beck presents a threat to the social order.

The very thread that weaves the core of conservative existence these, the wedge – the social issues; the excuse to keep worlds apart- to maintain control via schism and fear. Now the very godfather of all fear and grime takes it all away in one tearful swoop- abra cadabera shim shala bim! Done!

Conservative groups scream foul foul -’ give it back give it back – the fear the fear we need the fear!’   Danger   godfather Beck “upsets God’s order”:

Joseph Farah, who  questioned Barack Obama’s status as a natural born citizen of the United States and consequently, his eligiblity to serve as U.S. President, stating, “It’ll plague Obama throughout his presidency, argues - “Beck doesn’t care about one of the most blatant and despicable examples of judicial tyranny in the history of our country. He doesn’t care about the institution of marriage and its 5,000-year history. He doesn’t care that the Bible says God created marriage way back in Genesis and that Jesus affirmed that. He doesn’t care that the family is the building block of a society and that smarter men have explained how you simply can’t have freedom and self-governance without it. He also doesn’t seem to care about what might become of children adopted into such unions. That, my friends, is the perfect illustration of what’s wrong with the materialist worldview – whether it is held by a raving Marxist or a conservative entertainer.”

So Now the fun begins  – Glen Beck has joined the immoral Order of  the Gay Agenda.  May the chips fall where they fall!

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow will receive the 2010 Walter Cronkite Faith & Freedom Award for her coverage of religion and politics.

According to the Huffington Post, Maddow will be presented the Award, named after the legendary newsman Walter Cronkite, at a gala dinner in New York scheduled for October. Maddow will receive the award along with the Chautauqua Institution Department of Religion Director Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell.

“Walter Cronkite once told me that no less than the future of our nation was at stake in the work of Interfaith Alliance, and I can think of no two people who contribute more to advancing our mission than Rachel Maddow and Joan Brown Campbell,” said Interfaith Alliance President Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy. “Rachel’s passionate coverage of the intersection of religion and politics exhibits a strong personal intellect coupled with constitutional sensitivity to the proper boundaries between religion and government.”

The award “recognizes individuals who courageously promote democratic values, defend religious freedom and reinvigorate informed civic participation.” according to an announcement from the Interfaith Alliance.

The Interfaith Alliance is an organization founded is to protect faith and freedom by respecting individual rights, protecting the boundaries between religion and government, and uniting diverse voices to challenge extremism and build common ground.

Cronkite served as Honorary Chairman of the Interfaith Alliance until his death last year.

Past recipients of the award include Judy Shepard, the late Peter Jennings, George Clooney, Tom Brokaw, Larry King, and Bill and Judith Moyers.

By now you have all heard the tale of the homophobic offensive guard for the Philedelphia Eagles, Todd Herremans, who tweeted some anti-gay statements regarding the popular HBO show, True Blood. Specifically, he said: “Not a fan of how they get u hooked with the 1st 2 seasons then bring on a barrage of homosexuality.” Those damn vampires and their gayness! It’s so much worse than the whole “living on blood” thing. Am I right or am I right? … Or am I right?

Anyway, so the online queer community called Herremans out on his BS and he apologized. But Jason Zinoman, a writer over at www.Slate.com wrote an article today entitled, “True Blood’s “Barrage of Homosexuality” with the subtitle, “Was the Philadelphia Eagles’ Todd Herremans on to something?” Say what, dude? No way was Herreman onto something. Zinoman goes on to lavish us with his insights, which include that True Blood is trying to insight a gay panic riot in their straight male viewership. Because straight men are scared of the gays! Beware of the gays bro. Gays are cool as long as they don’t hit on me, right, dude? Zinoman writes:

The writers clearly enjoy making their audience feel uncomfortable. The excess of gore and the violent sex are designed to shock. They haven’t recently introduced homosexuality, as Herremans would have it, although you could make the case that there has been something of a barrage lately. And this season, the show’s fluid sexuality has a pointed dramatic purpose that invites and even encourages this kind of gay panic.

Maybe the show wants to make people uncomfortable, but it also wants to turn them on. There is a lot of sex in True Blood, hot sex, gay sex, lesbian sex, non-consensual sex, rough sex, etc. People like sex. People like sex and violence. I’m pretty sure HBO isn’t trying to gross out the bros, bro. Zinoman has a theory about how True Blood creates this homosexual panic. First, they get their straight male audience to get cool with a male character. There are tits involved, the straight male is like, dude maybe this vamp is coolio. Then BAM that cool vampire becomes a GAY vampire. But it’s too late because the dude bro has made a connection with the character and seeing this character have ‘the man sex’ freaks him out.

Last week, what bothered Herremans was surely the sex between Talbot and Eric. Straight male audiences surely identified with the confident alpha dog Eric, perpetually surrounded by adoring topless strippers. It was a shock to hear him explain that, when he said it’s been a long time since he’s “done this,” he was referring to vampires, not men.

DON”T YOU SEE HOW HBO IS MANIPULATING YOU, DUDE BROS! Zinoman writes:

True Blood performs a similar trick by getting straight male audiences invested in scenes of gay sexuality. Herremans’s tweet shows that it worked.

Wow. Sooo, True Blood showing the gay sex to freak out dude bro’s everywhere, instead of creating and telling a unique, compelling story that gets millions of viewers to tune in every week. Who knew?

Am I being too hard on dude bro Zinoman’s entry? Maybe. Recently, Slate has become kind of a weird place with feminist bloggers (and my personal favs) such as Hanna Rosin defending a Cornell scientist who used vibrators on young female children as well as a Cornell report that said partial female circumcision was okay, defending the doctor who gave out “anti-lesbian” pills to women pregnant with female children and attacking Jezebel.com. I used to love Slate, but what the hell is in their water coolers lately?

Peter S. Beagle once said, “There are no happy endings, because nothing ever ends.” Obviously, he has never been to Dinah Shore where there are tons of happy endings. It’s also the end of Season 1 of The Real L Word and things are going to get worse before they get better.

So the ladies are asked a question before the show one last time. This week the question is about Dinah Shore. Tracy, Rose and Whitney have been to Dinah Shore. Nikki would never go, she asks Showtime if they are trying to get her in trouble. Jill says it’s a new word in her vocabulary. Rose says they have a bronze statue of her there. Way to end the questions with a bang, Rose.

  Sarah and friends show up at Whitney’s house after moving to LA. They found an apartment near Whitney. Sarah’s cute friend is distracting, so I missed what Whitney said. Sorry guys.

Jill and Nikki are going to the airport to pick up their friend, Kaplan. They have a lot of wedding appointments that they are taking Kaplan too. Nikki is nervous, she has known Kaplan since they were eleven.

At Stamie’s Shack o’ Children, Tracy’s roommate Michele is meeting all three kids. Stamie tells Tracy she’s going to make out with her in front of mom. Tracy reminds Stamie that there is no PDA in front of mom. Stamie says that if Zory wears flats, she won’t do PDA. She also makes fun of Baby Steps, saying “Bitch you’re 60, how many baby steps do you have left? “ Stamie is finally sick of Tracy’s mom. In her head she had a heartwarming family scene all pictured out, but once Zory didn’t want to meet the kids, Stamie was over her high maintenance ass. But she would still love for her to meet the children so she can ‘see the whole picture.’ Stamie than bitches to Michele about Zory. Michele calms Stamie down. Tracy doesn’t want anyone to walk on eggshells and to be accepted. She probably can’t have both. Then she goes to change diapers.

Rose is at work! Like, in an actual office. Natalie is there too, working as her assistant. She says things are starting to look up, Rose says Natalie is doing it backwards. They aren’t on the same page at all.

Nikki and Jill are on their way to LAX to get Kaplan. Nikki is really tense for some reason, Jill is suspicious. Kaplan isn’t really coming to visit, Jill’s mom is! It’s a big surprise Nikki did for her and it’s actually really sweet. Hugs for everyone! I’m kind of sad that we don’t get to see what someone named Kaplan looks like.

Natalie and Rose are going to Dinah Shore as a couple. Nat is worried but hopes they have a great time together. They are out to dinner to celebrate staying together through another month. Nat wants Rose to promise not to be bitchy. Rose says lets not make out with other people. Natalie wants to talk about it. Rose is confused. Rose has never gone with a girlfriend to Dinah, she says it’s a test for any couple but especially her and Nat.

Mikey and Raquel are packing for Dinah Shore. Raquel has never been and it’s also her birthday! Mikey got Raquel a present…it’s a tattoo of her name right underneath Mikey’s Jesus tattoo, on her wrist. Raquel is touched. Mikey said that she has never really been able to show her emotional side because of her difficult childhood, but she’s trying to learn for Raquel. Awww.

Whitney is leaving with Scarlett and Sarah for Dinah Shore. Alyssa is staying at home, so the voice of reason is officially gone. The other ladies are also on their way.

At Dinah, women in bikinis are gyrating. Rose and Natalie rented Dinah Shore’s home, they feel special in a very gay way. It’s a kick ass house.

Nikki and Jill are picking up their dresses with both moms in tow. Jill picked a different dress than the one Nikki and her mom liked. Which is great, because the other dress was a tore up sheet. Everyone likes Jill’s new dress. It’s pretty, she looks great. Her and mom share a moment.

Tracy and Stamie are doing a PSA for California 1 Care, which is an organization that is pushing health care for all Californians. Which is great, because Californias are actually getting ripped off by their health care carrier more than any other state in the US. I’m not naming names, but highest profits, largest co-pay and least coverage. Zory is also coming to the shoot and Stamie bought one of her children, Daughtry to try to win over Zory. Zory isn’t comfortable meeting him, she wanted to get to know Stamie first. She’s pissed.  But how can the tow headed Daughtry NOT win anyone over? Tracy and Stamie say their lines woodenly and everyone celebrates. Zory’s heart of ice melts a little and they all take a picture together.

Whitney is now in Palm Springs at a hot hotel room. Whit wants to clarify her relationship with Sarah because the party is coming. They go to the Hilton to party and there are tons of hot chicks grinding. Whit tries to play is cool with Sarah, but they get caught up in the moment. She likes her a lot. They go to the pool and mess around. They tell each other they kind of want to be together? I don’t know they are doing the drunk talk thing. Whit says they both have walls up. Sarah asks Whit if she’s her girlfriend. Whitney kisses her in response and feels a little vulnerable. They go back to the hotel room and hook up.

Nikki and Jill are back at the house they are getting married in with their wedding planner and their moms. They wanted to show the house to their moms because they want their approval. Moms love it, of course. Jill and her mom walk on the beach together and share a moment.

Mikey and Raquel are in Palm Springs for a day. It’s not their speed as a couple. Raquel can’t find the lesbians. Mikey says Dinah is a place to make fun of people, but I didn’t see anyone to make fun of. Raquel’s tranny friend told her that the girls at Dinah are hot.

Rose and Natalie are at Club Skirts, the White Diamonds party. Rose approaches topless girls only wearing paint and touches them. Rose is running around and talking to people, like she came alone to the party, according to Natalie. Nat chooses not to make it an issue, why? Who knows.

For Tracy’s 30^th birthday party, she is having an intimate dinner at her aunt’s house. Stamie is over Zory, she wants her to leave so she can have Tracy back. Tracy was happy to see her family and friends come together for her birthday. Zory says in an interview, that she knows she’s the one that has to change. Tracy says she’s not choosing Stamie or her mom, she is choosing herself. She cries a little with this realization and I hope it all works out for her.

Rose and her bros and Nat are hanging out at the Palm Springs house. They aren’t fighting, they are hooking up. Rose says she knows Nat is exactly what she wants, but she needs to grow up.

Mikey and Raquel are out at Club Skirts at the pool party. Raquel is in shock. She describes it like a scene from National Geographic, she says it’s great but not for her. Rose and Nat are there too. Everything is fine but all of a sudden they are fighting over the bathroom line. Nat apologizes for being bitchy and starting a fight.

Whit is out at the pool party, her and Sarah are holding hands and Whit likes it. Her eyes are only on Sarah. But in the distance Romi does a little voodoo dance and calls Sarah to her. Sarah runs up to her and starts humping her. They go to get a drink. Whit dances by herself in the corner. Romi and Sarah have been talking on Facebook because they have a lot of friends in common. Sarah told Romi not to tell Whit they were talking. Now, Romi spills the beans to Whit. She’s eaten up by the irony.

Nat is chasing after Rose, who is with her friends, walking away from her. Rose argues with Nat more. They are arguing over the bathroom line. Seriously. Nat is getting the feeling Rose wants to fight to get rid of her. Rose runs into Whitney and they hang out and Rose has no idea where Nat is. They do beer bongs together. Rose and Whit are both pros at it. Rose’s best friend Marlow is there, Marlow is hot. They dance and grind together in their bikinis. Rose sees her and Marlow and freaks out. She approaches the girls and yells at them. Rose breaks up with her right then and there and then tells her friends Nat is a dumb bitch. Her bromance tells her she fucked up. Nat and Marlow walk away.

Sarah is in the pool. Whit goes to look for her, but Romi finds her first. By the time Whit gets there, Romi and Sarah are making out. I guess no one can resist Romi. So Whit decides to go back to the hotel room and pass out. Whitney cries in her confessional because she likes to think she doesn’t need anybody, but maybe she realizes she does.

Zory left, but she calls Tracy and says she wishes she could be near her. She says it was nice meeting her friends and that she isn’t in a position to judge anyone and that Tracy is not doing anything wrong.  Tracy is happy, she feels this means her mom is supportive. She thinks she’s getting through to her mom and her and Stamie are happy. They are also happy they can kiss again.

Rose goes back to the house and tells another bromance her and Nat broke up. Nat is in their room, packing up her stuff. Rose thinks Nat should apologize for being drama, Nat is just tired of being left so this time she is leaving. Rose is now picking a fight about money. Nat doesn’t want her money.

Mikey and Raquel are back in their hotel room getting ready to go out. It takes Mikey 15 minutes to get ready but Raquel takes hours. Raquel is wearing lingerie. It reminds Mikey of when they were dating when they were 21 and 23. Raquel looks so hot that Mikey can’t wait to get her back to the room and they haven’t even left yet. She carries Raquel out of the bathroom over her shoulder and they hook up on the bed. I don’t think they ever make it to the party.

Rose and Nat are arguing in the house. Nat says she’s done. But we all know she’s not.

Jill and Nikki are taking mom back to the airport. Jill cries, she had a great time wish it didn’t have to end, etc etc.

Dinah Shore is over. Raquel and Mikey are packing up. Rose is packing up by herself, Natalie left already. Rose is kind of sad about it. Nat is in her car, being angry about Rose retrospectively. She doesn’t want to be her punching bag anymore. Good for her.

Whitney is driving back home with her friends. Whit says that it solidifies that her and Sarah aren’t ready to be a couple. She says that she is single as hell “so ladies, watch out.”

Now there is a montage of the girls doing what they do best set to lesbian guitar music. Mikey is working, Rose is at a club with strippers, Whit is working out, Rose is doing hair, Jill and Nikki are washing their dogs, Mikey is working, Tracy is taking care of the kids. We also get to see Whitney acting, which is actually pretty cool. Mikey and Raquel are out on her bike. Nat is going to sleep alone with her dog and the season is over. Just like that.

Final thoughts? Chances are there won’t be a second season of the show. It started out with promise but quickly got boring. I don’t think that was the fault of the subjects, it was more the editors who showed one side of each woman. For example, Whitney must have done more than talked about her love problems, why didn’t we see her going to work on the movie? That would have been awesome. I got tired of watching Whitney hurt Romi and Tor’s feelings, she did other things. It doesn’t seem like she was a bad person at all and she’s certainly not a slut and it’s sad we only saw one side of her.

All we saw of Jill and Nikki was their wedding planning, they must do other things. After all that planning, we never even get to see the wedding.

Rose seems like a horrible girlfriend, but being her bromance might be cool. It seems like if you don’t hook up with her, she would be cool to know.  (Ditto for Whitney)

Mikey was mostly at work, but seeing more of her hanging out with her friends would have been cool. The one scene we got between her and Romi was fun to watch.

The show probably showed Tracy in the most versatile light, but even with that, we saw like 4 episodes focused on her mom and her visit, which was probably only a few days long. If the show does come back, it needs to show more sides of each women, it needs to show more friendships, especially between the women on the show. I hope that Showtime gives The Real L Word a second chance, if only so that the producers can try again to fulfill their vision. Because I’m sure this wasn’t it. The show has potential, but there are a lot of changes that need to be made. What do you think? Were you happy with the first season? Would you watch a second season? The Real L Word girls all hang out, even now that the show is over! Yes, even Nikki and Jill. Tracy posted a picture of the “Power of the Clam Posse” on her Facebook page.

If the show comes back for a second season, they should consider having more scenes of the women just hanging out together and having a good time instead of screwing their love interests over.

Natalie is tagged in the pic, even though she isn’t shown. Also, Mikey isn’t in the picture. She’s fucking working really fucking hard and that’s probably why she couldn’t make it.

I have loved Weeds since the second season. The show is about to embark on it’s sixth season and it’s almost unrecognizable. If you remember, last season Nancy was heavily involved with Mexican drug dealers and living with Esteban with her (now three) sons. Her brother-in-law Andy had gotten engaged to Alanis Morrisette, an OB/GYN doctor who also performs abortions. Last season ended with the two getting taken hostage by Morrisette’s stalker. Nancy’s story ended with Shane killing her rival, Pilar with a croquet mallet by the pool during a party. This is where we pick up the story.

In season six, the acting on the show is the best it’s ever been. Nancy’s true character has finally been revealed; she is selfish, thrives on trouble and is unhinged. Mary Louise Parker owns the characters bad attributes and is able to play her so realistically it is impossible to separate the actress from the character. Also, she gets better looking every year. That’s not fair, it’s like she’s aging backwards, Brad Pitt style.

Shane, played by Alexander Gould steals the show. His acting is subtle, each look has meaning. He isn’t a nerdy child anymore, but a good looking teen with a glint of madness in his eyes. He is the living representation of what Nancy’s bad choices have created, a child who came to age in a sea of drugs, violence and chaos.   

Hunter Parish and Justin Kirk as Silas and Andy, respectively both deliver solid performances as well. Silas wavers between being scared of his brother and wanting to protect him. Silas, as the most normal one in the family, doesn’t understand why he is constantly being pulled into the drama and his resentment against his mother has reached it’s peak. Andy is still in love with Nancy and serves as the comic relief. He’s funny, but Kirk is at his best when he is processing the magnitude of what Andy and Nancy have led Shane into doing.

Season six has the potential to be the best season yet. The writing is snappy and the pace is quick, while still being realistic. But there are cons: most of the supporting cast does not appear in this episode and it is hard to imagine how they can be written in. Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes has publically left the show and takes the lesbian subtext of her relationship with Nancy with her. Her lesbian daughter, Isabelle Hodes (Allie Grant) would not fit into the new direction of the show. The same goes for the rest of the Agrestic cast, except for Kevin Nealon, who will be featured, somehow. Season five suffered from the lack of the show’s African American cast, most notably, Romany Malco as Nancy’s love interest and Tonya Patano as Nancy’s foil.

If the premier episode is any indication, Weeds is recovering from it’s weak fifth season. It is not the same show it was when it first started, but it had to grow and change in order to make sense and to keep the storylines fresh. I still miss Agrestic, but Nancy Botwin has a whole world to conquer.  

Weeds will be back on Showtime August 16th at 10PM.

I am a Showtime addict. I love Showtime’s women-centered drama’s, how can anyone go wrong with a line-up that includes Toni Collette, Mary Louise Parker, Edie Falco and now, Laura Linney. The Big C has been promoted all summer-long. You are probably familiar with the plot; a woman with melanoma is dying so she ‘grabs life by the balls.’ Laura Linney plays Cathy Jameson and like her other Showtime counterparts, she carries the show. Cathy Jameson is basically, “every-woman.” She is a high school teacher has a husband (Oliver Platt) and teenage son. She is the responsible one in her household, the one that keeps it running as her childish husband and irresponsible son leave their clothes on the floor, spill juice on the white sofa and leave every cabinet in the house open. Cathy also has a brother, the nutty homeless Sean (John Benjamin Hickey) who spends his days trying to get his message of saving the earth across to the suburban masses.

The character of Cathy is sure to appeal to any woman in this situation, regardless of their health. The show is also produced and written by women, which probably helps to explain why the show is so appealing to women. When Cathy is told she has terminal cancer, she can’t bring herself to tell anyone in her life. Her fear is that they can’t handle it, she is the responsible one and no one else would know what to do. Whenever Cathy is around her doctor, we experience her inner dialogue. She is sassy, funny and astute. However, in the real world, her inner dialogue is stifled, she does and says the right thing at all times, she is called boring and predictable. In the first episode, we experience Cathy breaking out of her shell and rediscovering herself. She brings her inner dialogue to the surface, she eats whatever she wants to, she burns the sofa she hates, she makes friends with her recluse neighbor, she reaches out to an overweight student (Gabourey Sidibe). The first episode is fun, if predictable. You have probably seen it all in the commercials. The best part of the show is when Gabourey Sidibe is on screen, she is fresh and funny and she and Linney have great chemistry. She also adds a welcome contrast to the otherwise all white cast. Oliver Platt is also funny in his role as Linney’s husband, but his character is more one dimensional.

The show gets better over the next few episodes, even if it is a little predictable. Linney befriends her recluse neighbor and confides in her and thus the old woman has a new friend and renewed interest in life and Linney has a friend to confide in. The most original part of the show is that Linney doesn’t tell her family about her problems, which would make it more like every other cancer story you’ve ever seen. You go back and forth between wanting Linney to tell people and wanting them to change and appreciate her without being forced into it because she is dying.

The show is fun, but there are a few problems with it. The first being that Gabourey Sidibe needs to become a cast member and not a “special guest.” The second is already being remedied; it doesn’t make sense that Cathy doesn’t have a best friend. Showtime is bringing on board Cynthia Nixon to serve in that role and I cannot wait until she makes her entrance. Nixon would fit right into the quirky dynamic. The third is that it’s hard to suspend disbelief. In the first episode, we get the impression that Cathy only has a year to live. By the third, the doctor says it could be a year, it could be 18 months, it could be 3-5 years. We all know that if the show is a commercial success, it will keep going. But if Cathy doesn’t die, the premise of the show is ruined…it’s a conundrum that I’m sure Linney, as co-executive producer will figure out.

Overall, The Big C is a show that is worth watching and will probably make you cry a few times. Who doesn’t love a good cry? Also, there is lots of Laura Linney cleavage, which is a plus. You can catch The Big C starting August 16^th at 10:30 on Showtime, after Weeds.

Hello Lovlies, welcome to the penultimate episode of season 1 of The Real L Word. The season is winding down and producers have run out of questions to ask the ladies in their little pre-show interviews. Today’s question is either, “Do you cry during sex?” or “What do you do when a woman cries during sex?” Nikki admits that the first time she had sex with a woman, she cried. Which made sense since she was married and came out later in life, so okay. Next Rose says that she has had women cry on her after sex, and she doesn’t know what to do. Mikey doesn’t know what to do either, “Why are they crying? It’s supposed to be a happy moment”. Whitney asks “what the fuck kind of question is that? I should ask you that.” Tracy says she didn’t cry the first time she had sex with a woman, she had a big smile on her face. Nikki and Jill say that Jill cries during sex. Then Whitney gets asked if she cries when she comes and she says no and probably says to the male crew member and producer taping this, “Do guys cry when they come? Is that why they keep tissues by the bed? I thought it was for something else!” Cue theme song.

   We wake up at the Apartment of Harsh Truths, where Natalie is crying over Rose and everyone is telling her to get away from Toxic Rose. Cut to Rose in her car, who is going to ‘meet’ and by meet, I mean harass, Angel, her ex. Rose has said in the past that her relationship with Angel was crazy and that she had to get a restraining order against her. So I was expecting Angel to be huge and crazy, meanwhile Angel is a pretty, thin girl, who speaks well and sounds a lot like Natalie. Angel points out that Rose and her had a toxic relationship and that Rose cheated on her a lot. Rose says but we said we would always be there for reach other. Angel says she would be there for Rose whenever something happened to her grandmother, but her grandmother is fine now. Rose says “and you’re still here,” basically trying to get back together with Angel, since she believes that Natalie is “not supportive enough” and “didn’t like the way Natalie handled the grandmother situation.” Angel brings Rose down to reality and says, “No, I’m not still here.” She calls Rose out on moving on really fast after their relationship, calls Natalie a rebound, says Rose can’t be alone and that she will never change. Rose pushes her legs up against Angel’s under the table. They walk out to Angel’s car. Angel wants to know what Rose wants and why she’s messing with her not that Angel has finally started moving on and that Rose always does this. She calls Rose out and says “it’s always about you and what you want. Go do what you do best and go back and tell your girlfriend that you just needed closure and go back to being bored with her. I know this line.” Ouch. Angel’s a smart girl. Hopefully once Natalie see’s this episode she will kick Rose to the curb.

At Whitney’s place, her and Alyssa are trying to figure out how to get rid of the creamed corn and lube pool without getting it all over the backyard. Only, Whit is hung over or sick or something. (“You might be white trash if you get trashed and have sex during a party you are hosting”) so Alyssa tells her to go relax. Alyssa says that aside from Whit’s sister and mother, she is the only one who takes care of Whit, so she holds Whitney to a higher standard when it comes to messing around with Alyssa’s family members. Tor, in an interview, says that after the White Trash Party, Whitney told her that Romi raped her. Which is really not cool, rape isn’t a word you throw around. Maybe Whitney was kidding…anyway Tor didn’t buy it because she’s not that dumb and Romi doesn’t get to comment because she has no idea she’s a rapist. “You might be white trash if you have sex with someone and then accuse them of rape,” wasn’t that a subplot in To Kill A Mockingbird? Anyway, Alyssa admits that she will always forgive Whitney and console her, even though she continually hurts Tor.

At Chez Nikki & Jill, they whine and cry over venues. But then Nikki bullies Jill and gets her way and they will get married at the crazy, ultra expensive house Nikki fell in love with. Yay! Their scene is over.

Mikey is riding her bike to fashionweek, because she’s a badass like that. The tent is up in the studio parking lot. Mikey is psyched bc this is her biggest fashion week production ever. She goes around and thanks the crew personally.

At Stamie’s shack o’ children, where we actually haven’t seen children in awhile, Stamie tells Tracy that she thanks her mom’s uterus everyday for giving her Tracy. Which is actually kind of funny and not too creepy, although it is a little gross. I met a hot fan of Stamie’s who goes to her comedy show every week and loves it, so I will give Stamie a little more benefit of the doubt. There is a Victoria Secret bag on the table and I bet Tracy looks great in whatever is inside it. Then they talk about Stamie’s parents accepting her and Tracy’s mom not accepting her and blah blah blah. Stamie and Tracy are so family oriented that now I understand their relationship a little better. It only took me all season.

Rose is leaving her house to go pick up Natalie, who is staying at her mom’s, to beg Nat to come back to her. She says “I will probably have to do some Oscar award winning acting.” Dude, if you don’t like Natalie then leave her alone. Why do you even want her to come back? Oh right, so you have someone to have sex with that you can use as a punching bag. Nice. Rose rolls up to Nat’s mom’s house and Nat actually lets her in. Natalie isn’t wearing makeup and looks as if she has been awake for days crying, basically, she looks really, really different. The first thing Natalie does is ask about her grandma. Rose admits Grandma is fine, but she doesn’t admit that Angel knew grandma was fine way before Natalie did. Natalie asks what they are going to do about…this. ‘This’ being their awful, painful to watch, trainwreck of a relationship. Nat calls Rose out on having said that she was going to go be with Angel, Rose denies that she said that. Rose took that Shaggy song, “It Wasn’t Me” way to literally. We all know it was you, Rose! If Natalie doesn’t know now, she will because there are CAMERAS that FOLLOW YOU EVERYWHERE! Despite ever y lesbian watching this show screaming, “Don’t do it, Natalie!” The girls make-up and Natalie goes home with Rose.  

Back at Whit’s place, she has fully recovered from whatever it was that was ailing her and is her cheerful self. She reminds Alyssa that they need to haul the lube/creamed corn mixture out of the backyard. They need to sneak it to a dumpster they aren’t allowed to use. Showtime plays “moron” music as the two put the pool into a leaking trash bag. Instead of double bagging it, they drag the leaking bag through their backyard to the front of the house, where they have a shopping cart. Like a shopping cart from a store…as in “you might be white trash if you have a shopping cart in your front yard.” Alyssa starts throwing up and dry heaving because of the smell and the leakage, so Whit bravely does most of it by herself. Then they two wheel the leaking trash bag to the dumpster, “Time for Lube wheelin!” The girls leave the shopping cart by the dumpster and run. Too bad there is a trail of lube that leads from their house to the dumpster. Hopefully no one will investigate. I like Whitney when she’s not breaking people’s hearts and then accusing them of rape.

In Mikey’s fucking showroom, Heather Locklear and her offspring are there. Offspring will be walking in her father’s show for his fashion line, “White Trash Beautiful” and Mikey has a kind model on-hand to show the fourteen year old how to walk, while Heather Locklear flirts with Mikey in the corner. Like seriously, Heather fucking Locklear is fucking flirting with fucking Mikey. At one point, Offspring gives the ladies a look like…what the f? Then Raquel busts in with balloons and a rose and hugs Mikey and Heather looks a little pissed. But then she recovers when she is introduced to Raquel. Also, Heather Locklear did something to her face, because she looks really puffy and her skin is really tight. As Heather leaves, Mikey looks longingly at the door and Raquel hugs her and gives her airkisses.  

Whitney and Scarlett are having lunch and talking about how Sara is living in LA somewhere. Whit calls Romi and Tor dramatic and now she has decided that Sara is the chosen one. Poor Tor, she’s such a cute baby koala. She tells Scarlett that Sara is going with them to Dinah Shore and that she has to tell Romi. Scarlett is friends with Romi so she wants Whit to end things with Romi and “zip it up”, since Whit wants to be with Sara. Whit says she will.

 Tracy’s mom calls her and says she can’t come, but really she is standing outside her door! Yay! The two talk. Her mom, Zory, explains that is Tracy was a mother, she would understand why Zory isn’t happy about Tracy being gay. Then she says she will think about meeting Stamie, but she can’t see them hold hands or kiss because that would be too much for her. Ouch. Holding hands is too hard for her to watch? After five years of knowing her daughter is gay? Zory says, “baby steps” but the baby is already in kindergarten and running around the playground. Tracy is taking Zory to Stamie’s comedy show, which is a HUGE mistake and not fair to either lady.

Nikki and Jill are taking their first dance lesson. They are both anxious because neither of them is good at dancing. The instructor starts off teaching them a box step, Jill thinks it’s ridiculous that they are such beginners and need to start off with a box step. She says “how was I absent that day when they taught that in gym class?” Apparently Jill went to high school in the 1920s. I think the rest of us learned how to play dodgeball. Jill says the idea of two women slow dancing “feels strange to me, I can’t put my finger on it.” It’s because Jill isn’t gay. In their duo interview, Nikki says that they do not have the dance gene. Jill keeps opening her mouth to object, but Nikki doesn’t let her get the words out. But you want to know what Jill was going to say, “I can dance with men, just not with women!” That was what she’s trying to say…because she’s NOT GAY. Nikki is all like “two women dancing is just so gay.” I don’t know what that means. I don’t think two women dancing is “gay” or “strange” but I do think it’s gross watching those two little starving beanpoles rub themselves together on the dance floor. Maybe they should go taste some wedding cakes or something. The two leave the dancing lesson and decide never to go back.  

Tracy is taking her mom to Stamie’s comedy show. Stamie doesn’t even know her mom is in town and Tracy knows that Stamie get’s nervous before her shows. Tracy says Stamie spends four hours getting ready for the show. She calls Stamie on speaker without telling her that mom is in the car. Luckily, Stamie doesn’t make any lewd jokes. But because Zory won’t speak into the phone, Stamie doesn’t believe that Tracy is really bringing her mom to the show.

Rose is at her grandmother’s house, so is Rose’s mom. Rose’s grandmother and aunt beg Rose to apologize to her mom. Rose does and swallows her pride even as her mom says “I forgive you for all the hurt you caused.” Considering that Rose went to live with her grandmother when she was a child means that she should be the one apologizing to Rose. It’s sad and gives some insight as to why Rose acts like a jerk sometimes. Her mom seems really selfish.  

So Tracy arrives at the comedy club/coffee house with Zory and Stamie is surprised and uncomfortable. For once, Stamie is speechless. Probably because she knows she is going to talk about ex-girlfriends, puppetry of the penis, cuntfaces, and penis size. Tracy didn’t give her mom a heads up about Stamie’s comedy and Zory is disgusted. It’s also unfair, because that’s not really who Stamie is. Stamie is very family oriented and if Tracy had introduced them in a different way, I do think things would have gone better. Tracy realized that now that it’s over and too late to change.

Fashion week is here! Mikey’s event is starting and everything is going great…until the lights in front of the red carpet go out and no one can get their pictures taken on the red carpet. Mikey’s electrician sucks and she runs in her sunglasses, in the dark of night, and eventually fixes it herself and the celebrities can get their picture taken.

Tracy has invited her sisters, mom and Stamie over for dinner. Stamie is going to find it hard not to hold Stamie’s hand or show her any affection in front of her mom. In typical creepy Stamie fashion, she make a joke about scissoring Tracy in front of her mom. Tracy thinks that is her mom could meet Stamie’s kids, everything will be ok, because she will see that Tracy can still have the American Dream.

Whitney and Romi are on a date. Whit says she is there to be honest about her motives. She tells Romi that Sara is moving to LA. Romi seems a little pissed, she’s also wearing an orange dress and isn’t as hot as usual. Whitney is being vague about her relationship with Sara. Romi and Whit say that they have gotten to the point where they can all be friends. Whit says in her interview that she should end things with Romi, that she should end things with somebody! Then she tells Romi that she wants to have a baby. Romi laughs harder than the comment calls for and says “That’s why I love you…cuz why not?” and it’s awkward. Whit is feeding Romi a line of BS, saying she’s very maternal. Whitney says she will get Romi pregnant at Dinah, Romi says “me and a lot of other people.” So maybe the girl finally gets it. Whitney says “The truth will be revealed at Dinah Shore,” ah prescient Whitney, she must be able to read creamed corn lube the way the gypsies of old used to read bird entrails and tea leaves.

At Fashion week, Heather Locklear, Nikki Lund and Mena Suvari are on the red carpet. Mena calls Mikey out on wearing sunglasses at night, indoors, by asking her if she is hung over. Mikey says…”ooo it’s so bright in here.” Madeline Zima, from the Nanny, is also there. Just wanted to make sure you guys didn’t miss that. The White Trash Beautiful show runs smoothly, Heather’s daughter walks well and Mikey makes sure to announce her so that people know to be appropriately excited. Richie Sambora isn’t at the show to watch his daughter, which is too bad. She did well and the clothes are actually pretty awesome. First night of fashion week is over!

At Tracy’s dinner party from hell, Stamie is honoring Zory’s request of not showing Tracy affection. Tracy’s bitchy sister is back. They are sitting at the table and Stamie is being quiet and respectful. Tracy asks Zory if she wants to meet Stamie’s kids. Zory says no. Tracy’s gay friendly sister Audra shows up. Stamie says that not wanting to meet her kids is kind of the last straw for her with Zory. Zory is bringing her back to a time where she was uncomfortable and ashamed of herself and she doesn’t need that in her life, she’s a mother now and she feels like her kids are being slighted. But she goes back to the dinner table and jokes around, respectfully with Tracy’s clan.

It’sday two of Fashion week and Mikey’s final show. It’s a huge event. All the girls are going, they were obviously invited by Showtime, but Whit & Rose were invited by Mikey, Tracy and Stamie invited by Whitney and Nikki and Jill are just there and don’t talk to any of the ladies. Mikey is holding the show for Raquel, who is running late. Raquel finally makes it and they can start the show. She looks great but she is wearing a lot of blush, like she got caught in a fight with a kabuki brush. The show goes off without a hitch, Mikey gets on stage to close fashion week. But instead of closing the show, she calls Raquel onto the stage and gets down on one knee! She proposes to Raquel, but can’t see her finger because she is wearing sunglasses. Juuust kidding, the two get engaged! Yay! Whitney and Rose stand up and hold up their drinks and lead the cheering. Raquel is so happy with the huge gesture Mikey just made and it’s sweet. Mikey wants to have the American Dream with Raquel.

On the last episode of theReal L Word: Rose acts like she’s single, Stamie is stuck with Tracy’s mom and Whitney goes to Dinah Shore and Sara and Romi make out in the pool. Umm, I guess the commenter who said that Sara and Romi are now living together and don’t talk to Whitney is riiiight.

So the show is almost over…are you excited or sad?

The Cleveland Show Popstar Justin Timberlake will voice a gay character on Fox’s The Cleveland Show. At Comic-con, the creator of the show, Rich Appel, said:

“Terry [voiced by Jason Sudeikis] falls in love with a guy voiced by Justin…Justin is just hysterical!”

The Cleveland Show is a spinoff of the ultrapopular Family Guy. Both shows have been criticsized as being unfriendly to the LGBT community. Both shows recently featured men throwing up at the idea of having sex with a transwoman. Hopefully The Cleveland Show is turning a corner and will portray Timberlake’s animated character in a humorous, but also sensitive, way.

Rachel Maddow went on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. The two talked Andrew Breitbart and his manipulation of the news to incite fear and racism against African Americans. Maddow tells Letterman that Breitbart is a spin off of the Drudge Report. Letterman gets heated about how Breitbart can basically edit anything he wants, present it in any way he wants and get the story picked up by seemingly legitimate news organizations and then the White House buys into it. Of course, they are referring to Shirley Sherrod.

Watch Letterman curse Breitbart and FOX news below and get unusually political. Maddow, as usual, keep a cool head and says the only solution to Breitbart and Fox news is really to call them out on their lies and discredit them in front of their audience.

There are a lot of reasons to love Hal Sparks, from his portrayl of the sensitive but whiny Michael Novotny to his hilarious, pro-vagina stand up routine. Sparks announced on his twitter page (@halsparks) that he saved a man’s life yesterday at the LAX airport. He tweets:

Michaele Salahi the infamous White House Crasher and castmember of the upcoming The Real Housewives of DC on Bravo, appeared on The Viewwith her castmates. Salahi, who is hated by the other women on the show, the ladies on The View and the American public as a whole, took a beating for her bad behavior. Sherri Sheppard even told Salahi that she should have gone to jail.

Salahi fired back in kind, saying that “people love to hate people” and that’s why everyone hates her. Which makes her sound seriously unhinged. During the segment where Salahi and a castmate were arguing over whether or not Salahi is anorexic (both these women look anorexic, their neck cords look painful) and whether or not that entitled Salahi’s husband to throw a drink on her (he did), Whoopi leaves the show, lightly touching Salahi on the should as she exits. Sherri Sheppard says that Whoopi will come back when she finds the topic interesting again.

The Daily Beast is reporting that after the segment was over, Salahi went back stage and started yelling that Whoopi had “outrageously abused” her. Salahi’s lawyer gave this version of the events:

Lisa Bloom, the Salahi’s lawyer, Goldberg grabbed Salahi’s arm and said, “Move on, move on! Get to the White House!,” in an attempt to steer the conversation toward allegations that the Salahis party-crashed last year. The moment lasted all but a few seconds, but Salahi was apparently unnerved and remarked that she’d been surprised by Goldberg’s appearance. Co-host Sherri Shepherd remarked to the audience, “That’s Whoopi. She don’t come out unless she’s passionate.”

Then, after the show finished taping, Goldberg, according to the Salahis’ lawyer, Lisa Bloom, burst into a room Michaele was sitting in with Tareq and screamed: “I didn’t fucking hit you! Did you say I fucking hit you?” “She was screaming and dropping the F-bomb many, many times,” Bloom told The Daily Beast exclusively. Tareq apparently began filming the verbal altercation with his BlackBerry, though Bloom said he only caught “the last few seconds.” [Source]

The View is defending Whoopi and the show’s rep gave this version of the events:

Karl Nilsson, said:

“Whoopi lightly touched Ms. Salahi to get her attention and said to her ‘Excuse me, can you get back to the White House, please,’ meaning could Ms. Salahi return to the original subject of the conversation. After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi.

As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous. After the show and after being told she was being accused of hitting Ms. Salahi, Whoopi proceeded to defend herself verbally from this baseless claim in a heated exchange with the Salahis.”

Did Real Housewife of New York diss the gays? Page 6 says yes. They are reporting that Bethenny Frankel pissed off the GLAAD activists who organized a rooftop gala last night. Bethenny (Getting Married?) was supposed to host the event. Why? Who knows, she’s not gay nor has a single lesbian ever been shown, even as a friend or in the freaking background, on Real Housewives of New York or on Bethenny Getting Married? There are a lot of male gay best friends though. Oh, also her husband and baby daddy is rumored to be gay…but my guess is no. If I ever see cameras for either one of those shows on the streets of NYC, I’m throwing myself in front of them. There will be lesbians, Andy Cohen, there will be lesbians. Bethenny also posed nude for PETA even though she is not a vegetarian and wears leather, so she probably just likes doing things where people take her picture.

Anywho, Witnesses reported that Bethenny walked the red carpet an hour later than she was supposed to and she left right after. She didn’t even make it to the roof!

Sources in Bethenny’s camp say that the reality star was rushing because she had to make it to the set of Larry King.

I know what you are thinking, “Wasn’t she already in a porno?” Not officially. While Tila has stripped, posted nearly nude pictures and starred in the vaguely pornographic A Shot of Love, she hasn’t made the leap into anything hardcore…until now. Tila has had trouble finding work lately. The trainwreck was kicked off of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab a few weeks ago and that really is the least of her problems.  

RadarOnline.com is reporting that a reliable source can confirm that Tila recently signed a deal with a popular porn distributor. The sources are saying that Tila is hoping to make millions off this tape. Considering that one can go to her website and see her pull a bloody tampon out of her hoochie cooch, I’m guessing that might dampen the demand on her sex tape.

A video and photos of Tila buying a new blue $400,000 Lamborgini surfaced earlier this week. Radar says their sources say Tila was able to afford the car with the advance of the sex tape.

Lady Gaga has set a record for most MTV Video Music Award Nominations, with 13. Gaga tells People that she is glad that it is an unlucky number. It’s ironic that even the number of Gaga’s VMA noms is controversial. Gaga also throws a shout out to her LGBT fans.

Gaga says to People:

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” says Gaga. “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13. A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”

The National Inquierer isn’t right often, but everyonce in awhile they get it right. Like, John Edwards did have a “lovechild” and there really is a “Fishboy” a boy that was born a fish from the waist up. Now, they are onto songstress Tracy Chapman and her current girlfriend like Fishboy on kelp. The rag is reporting that although Chapman met celesbian Guinevere Turner only a few months ago, the two are planning to move in together. This phenomea is known as “u-hauling” among lesbians. However, when straight people do it, it’s called being “knocked up.”

The National Inquirer didn’t provide any details of how Chapman asked Turner to move in with her, but I imagine that their conversation went something like this:

Tracy: Baby, can I hold you tonight?

PenGuin (that’s Tracy’s pet name for her): Actually I have to get back to my place, I need to do laundry, feed the dogs, the cats, you know how it is.

Tracy: At this point in my life, I’ve done so many things wrong I don’t know if I can do right. If you put your trust in me I hope I won’t let you down, if you give me a chance I’ll try.

PenGuin: Honey, what are you trying to say? You know I hate it when you only speak in lyrics.

Tracy: I’m talking bout a revolution…in a fast car…wanna shack up?

PenGuin: Yes! Yes a hundred times yes! Maybe now that I am dating a serious singer/songwriter people will forget that horrible scene in The L Word where I had loud crazy sex with Poppi and then we took a break for liverwurst sandwiches for some reason and then make vagina looking like liverwurst jokes!

That’s probably how the conversation went.

You might remember Turner as Gabby in The L Word or as whatshername from Go Fish. Turner is currently starring in Cheryl Dunye’s “The Owls” about mature lesbians who do something very, very stupid. Check out my interview with Dunye below and expect for Turner to address the Chapman situation in her press rounds for “The Owls.”

Also, Turner postponed her interview with Cherrygrrl because she was moving. Coincidence? I hope not. I hope Chapman and Turner turn their relationship into a lesbian interracial lovestory and I hope that Disney makes it into an animated movie.

Christina Hendricks plays Joan Holloway on Mad Men. Also she’s hot. Really really hot. So is Marilyn Monroe! Also, they both have great, curvy, womanly bodies! Therefore, Hendricks is often compared to her. Hendricks sat down with Parade magazine and gave her thoughts about being compared to Marilyn.

“I don’t think any woman in the world could get tired of being compared to Marilyn Monroe. It is embarrassing, though, because I think that I could never hold a candle, but it is also incredibly flattering, and she’s someone I admire greatly. So it’s always a really nice thing to hear.”

Thea Gill is best known among the LGBT community for her portrayal of Lindsay Peterson, one half of the show’s lesbian couple, on the landmark Showtime series Queer As Folk. Ms. Gill has won a number of LGBT-themed awards, including the National Leadership award from the Gay and Lesbian Task Force and PFLAG.  She has also gone on to star in numerous films, TV shows and stage productions since she QAF wrapped.

Thea’s latest project is Lifetime Movie, “The Boy She Met Online.” The movie is about a young girl who meets a guy online, she thinks he is a college student, but GASP he is actually a convicted felon in JAIL. Noooo! All kinds of drama ensues. Trailer below:

You can catch the movie on the Lifetime Movie Network on August 22nd. Personally, I never miss a chance to watch the lovely, talented Thea act. So I will be watching.

Thea is also working on a LGBT themed project, Spitfire. I had the chance to interview Thea about the project and she had this to say:

TG: I’m producing, alongside with my business partner, Gina Glass, the film version of Gina’s novel, SPITFIRE with our company Wonky Girl Productions and Verite Films with Rene Veilleux  and Donald Roman Lopez. SPITFIRE’S a love story between a fire fighter and a doctor! Very, very romantic….

Would you come out on a National TV show? Would you want to watch B or D list celebrities do it? Howard Bragman, celebrity publicist, thinks you would. Bragman specializes in helping celebrities come out in the media without damaging their careers or in some cases, using it to rejuvenate their careers. Bragman, a happily married gay man, has helped celebrities such as country music star Chely Wright, basketball star Sheryl Swoopes, actress Meredith Baxter, Dick Sargent (I Dream of Genie) and Amanda Bearse (Married…With Children). More controversially, Bragman has represented Isiah Washington after he called gay Grey’s Anatomy co-star a “faggot.”

Bragman sat down with EW to talk about his work and his new show.   

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What would you say to folks who respond to the concept of Coming Out by saying “What’s the point of this show? We don’t need to know about these people’s personal lives!”?
HOWARD BRAGMAN: Oh come on, we love knowing about people’s personal lives! Look at your sister publication, People magazine! I mean, we want to know every detail, every nuance. Heterosexuals don’t seem to be ashamed about selling wedding pictures and baby pictures, and we have to start telling our stories, too. And you know what? If you don’t want to know about it, we have this wonderful thing called the remote control: Use it!

Are you envisioning this as a live show, where people pop out from behind a curtain and say “Hey, I’m gay!”? Or will it be more of a behind-the-scenes look as they go through the planning and process of coming out?
The latter. It’s going to be very documentary-esque. We’re going to be telling people’s stories, and you have to do that with a certain amount of sensitivity. You know as well as I do, none of us gets out unscathed from coming out and growing up gay. I don’t care if you’re the best looking kid in the world and go to the most liberal school and have the best parents: It still screws your head up to some extent, and we all get a little damaged as a result of it. And hence we get stronger and more creative, and lots of good comes out of it, but it’s not easy.

Bragman also believes in coming out, as opposed to staying in the closet. He believes that you will live a happier life as an out person.

That said, we’re at a time when Adam Lambert is openly gay and in the midst of a very successful summer tour, and Neil Patrick Harris is out and up for an Emmy playing a straight man. How big a consideration for your clients is the fear of losing work or income if they do go public with their homosexuality?
Everybody worries. Music it seems to be less of an issue, though in Chely Wright’s case, she had legitimate fears about coming out in country music. In acting, it’s an issue. But it’s all a balancing act. These kids come to me, they’re 25 and want to be the next great action star, and they’re gay, and they’re scared to death. Well, my advice is, play the odds. Odds are you’ll have a happier life if you’re out than if you’re a closeted action star. But it’s a shockingly personal decision. I will tell you, though, as I talk to people and cast this show, there’s a big difference between having my phone ring and having someone say “I’m coming out, can you help me?” and me calling someone and saying “Have you every thought of…” [Laughs.]

Bragman also believes in the power of celebrities coming out, in order to serve as role models or to help others come out.

Seriously, though, why do this show, and why now?
I want people to understand that standing up and saying “Yes, I’m gay” is a huge deal. Right after Chely Wright taped Oprah, five days after she came out, she found out that at the little high school she went to in Kansas, three kids went to the guidance counselor and said, “We’re gay. In honor of Chely, we’re coming out. We’re dealing with it.” And the high school promised them a safe place to learn. That was huge for Chely. That made it all worth while. We have to understand what the suicide rates are for gay teens, and the damage that some of the hatred in the world does to people. We’re in a country that’s very divided on this issue, but it’s not okay to be homophobic; it’s that simple. If we change a few minds, then the show has been successful, no matter what the ratings are. You used the term “post-gay world” when you blogged about the show last week, and some people disagreed with you. But my theory is the revolution is over; we’re now in the evolution. Evolutions take longer and produce fewer results than revolutions, but we’re getting changes incrementally.

In the beginning, I was wary of the concept of the show. After reading Bragman’s interview, he seems like a responsible man who is genuinely trying to help people survive the coming out process with their career intact as well as normalizing ‘gay’ to the mainstream. Jennifer Aniston will probably be making an appearance on her best friend, Courteney Cox’s show, “Cougar Town.” The rumor is that she will also play a lesbian. Sound familar? That’s because it is! Aniston played a lesbian on Cox’s failed show, “Dirt.” Dirt was about a shamless entertainment reporter and aired in 2007. The friends shared a chaste liplock on the show. Which didn’t help the rumors that the two have hooked up, are hooking up, are more than friends, blah blah blah. It’s so not true, but I have met a few women who claim to have slept with Jen. I can’t say whether or not there is any truth to these claims, but there they are.

Friends alum Lisa Kudrow has already appeared on ”Cougar Town,” she did not play a lesbian. But hey, who knows what the future will bring. Hopefully Ms. Kudrow will get in on the sapphic action, whether it happens on screen or off.

Soooo…The Real L Word is officially porn. Yes, you read that right, porn. Before we get to the porn, we need to talk about what question the girls are answering in their “before the show” interviews. This week, the question is about toys. Whit opens this one up, she has a lot. Surprise surprise, “Dear upcoming lesbian, u looking for a sex toy?” She likes giving strap-on sex, so does Rose. Jill is too embarrassed to talk about it and that’s the way she was in the store too. Nikki isn’t embarrassed, she loves them. Mikey has swings. Tracy was confused upon entering the store. I’m getting the feeling that Tracy is confused a lot. It took me awhile to peg Tracy, I think she just might not have too much going on upstairs. Mikey cautions against putting toys in the dishwasher (check the box). Her advice to other lesbians? Stay committed, it is super expensive to change girlfriends and need to get all new toys. Sage advice from our poofy haired career woman. Using toys on multiple partners is a great way to spread disease. Ahem, this topic will pop up again later this episode.

We start this episode at Mikey’s fuckin workplace, where she’s fuckin workin. Fashion week is five days away and as usual, they all have a ton to do. Mikey and the S girls are having trouble with the RSVP list. One of the girls is kind of fucking up and they are getting complaints from the attendees of fashion week. Now, the attendees of the event don’t pay to come, they are vetted to make sure they are ‘important’ and then invited to the event. The people who pay are the designers, who pay Mikey to produce a show where they can get exposure to the people they want to see. Therefore: RSVP list equals important. Also important? Wiping down the lunch table, which Mikey does while the S girls probably check their gmail. The S girl that didn’t go to NYC is being too slow with the RSVP list.

It’s the afternoon at Chez Nikki and they are sitting around with their dogs, doing a crossword puzzle, then Nik’s designer friend from hell enters. Designer friend from hell, also known as “Snowball Dan” is bent on torturing Jill. Jill & Nik are hosting Passover Seder, it’s their first one as an engaged couple and they want to impress their friends who will be in attendance. Dan is there to whip their humble chateau into shape. Snowball Dan says that the space is “dead” the walls look like “mud” and the window treatments came with the house. He knows they did, in hell they know a lot, they watch mortals there. He calls them old Schmatta rags and that they look like they came from a hospital suite. He wants them to get a new rug. Jill protests, Nik just wants the place to be perfect. A glass chandelier, Nik suggests. A glass chandelier it will be, Snowball Dan hollers. Little do the ladies know he plans to install a cursed chandelier from hell.  (No really, I swear. Keep reading)

Rose goes to visit her Grandmother, who isn’t feeling well. Rose is scared, because she is attached to her Grandmother and doesn’t know how to deal with her potential health problems. Rose and her mother are fighting, because they are too much alike. Rose knows it bothers her Grandmother and she wants to stop, but she probably won’t.

At Stamie’s Shack o’Children, little Daughtry, Jagger and Nikko are at the ex’s house, so of course Stamie invites her psychic over to read Tracy. Because that’s what we all do on boring nights when the kids are out. Stamie’s psychic has apparently been able to predict all of the big events in Stamie’s life. Which is why Stamie was surprised she broke up with the woman she had surprise twins with? Stamie’s psychic is crazy, she starts reading Tracy and goes into convulsions. Tracy says “I expected her head to start spinning and green shit to start spewing out.” Me too. The psychic says what we have all been thinking at this point, that Tracy be tougher on her mom about accepting her because in the end her mother is the one that is hurting. Being an intolerant person can be seen as an illness, the psychic gives Tracy’s mom five months until her attitude blows up in her face.

At Whit’s Palace o’ Porn (I’ll explain later) the girls are gearing up to go paintballing tomorrow. Whit makes a bet with Tor, whoever loses at paintballing gets to strap it on and top the other one.

At Chez Nikki and Jill, Snowball Dan sent over a glass chandelier that looks like a giant crystal and yellow phallus. The girls have never seen the chandelier, the girls watch it go up. Jill is horrified and for once I agree with her. Nik is psyched about the monstrous size of the chandelier…from HELL.  

It’s paintballing time! Mikey says Whit called her and invited her paintballing and Mikey in turn called Rose and invited her and her bromance posse paintballing. I call bullshit, Showtime set this up, it’s too much like the basketball scene in The L Word. But the women are at their most likeable during this scene, so whatever. Rose shows up and we have never seen her next to Mikey and Whit. Suddenly, they look tiny. Rose and Mikey have known each other forever, 7 or 8 years. Rose says “We go way back like…” neither of the ladies can think of something witty to place there, so Mikey does a little dance and says “bomp bomp bomp” and Rose lets the sentence trail off into oblivion. Whit calls Rose an amazon powerhouse and the leader of her bromance posse. Whit puts Tor onto the Rose Bromance team. Rose is gracious about taking the baby koala onto her otherwise buff, athletic team. Rose says they all know how to shoot because they grew up in the hood. Then she says just kidding. But perhaps…she wasn’t. Those bromance girls party pretty hard, I wouldn’t put anything past them. Whit is leading the second team and tells everyone about the strap on bet. Tor does a baby koala dance.  Whit calls her team the bad news bears. Despite Team Bromance looking good, in the end only Tor and Whit are left on the battlefield. Whitney shoots Tor and wins the game and the bet. How symbolic. If only Shakespeare and Dickens had been able to use the kind of symbolism that comes along with paintballing.

Tracy is still reeling from the psychic reading. Tracy calls her mom during her lunch hour to push the gay issue. Tracy wants her mom to come out for her 30^thbirthday and meet Stamie. Mom doesn’t want to meet Stamie. Tracy says that her and her mom had a “handshake agreement” that they wouldn’t talk about lesbian stuff. Tracy tells her mom she wants to reneg on that. Her mom says that she isn’t comfortable with it, she can’t help how she feels and she bets a lot of other moms feel the same way. They do, but that doesn’t make it right, plenty of moms are very happy with their lesbian daughters. Tracy is finally putting her foot down and it’s great! Her mom suggests that the lesbian thing is still a phase. Tracy says no. Her mom says that she needs more time, because the five years she’s had isn’t enough. Tracy is done with “babysteps.” Tracy tells her mom she wants her to be included in all parts of her life, not just 90% of it. Which is a nice way of putting it, I suppose. Her mom says Tracy need’s to put herself in her mom’s shoes and that her phone is dying and she needs to go. The easiest way for Tracy to get her mom to stop the BS would probably be if she stopped talking to her until she accepts her. But it doesn’t seem like that is a step Tracy is ready for.

At Chez Nikki and Jill the girls are talking Seder dinner for Passover. The men are still trying to install the Chandelier from Hell, when it falls and almost cuts the workers faces off. Jill is in shock and was scared the workers  or the dogs could have gotten killed. Nikki is mad because the chandelier is ruined. O Nikki, it was the ugliest chandelier I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know they made ugly chandeliers. The workers postulate to Jill that maybe it was too heavy. Jill calls Snowball Dan and wants to nix the chandelier, Dan and Nik suggest it was a faulty one. Nik backs Jill up to Snowball Dan, but she still “needs” it to be in their house.

Whitney and Scarlett are heading to the toy store. Whit wants to buy a strap-on to use with Tor because she explains “It’s a very personal thing and you don’t want to use the same one for everyone. It would be like some guy not washing his dick between having sex with two girls.” Scarlett wants to pick out something sparkly and pink. Whitney says no, she needs one that speaks to her. Scarlett is there to provide Whit with the bottom perspective. Scarlett suggests a big black one. Whit says if she was a guy she’d have a giant cock. They pick one and grab some lady lube. Whit tells the salesgirl she’s turning her on in a bromance way. She’s been hanging out with Rose too much. Whit goes home and collects on her bet with Tor. Tor has never had strap-on sex before. Poor baby koala. I don’t want to think about Tor having sex at all, she’s too cute and little.

At Rose’s house, Rose needs to rally Nat and get to the hospital because her Grandma is in the hospital with pneumonia. Rose is scared and sad and picks on Natalie because she’s upset. They go into the hospital and Rose says to Nat, “I need you right not…I need you not to be a bitch right now.”

It’s the morning after Tor and Whit’s strap-on sex. Whit says it was “no inhibitions…balls to the wall.” Tor says it was amazing and her and Whitney have something together and she doesn’t know where it’s going to go.

At Nikki and Jills Passover, they put a dog bone on the plate instead of the traditional Shank Bone because Nikki can’t look at bones…which is ironic. Maybe she and Jill should eat a sandwich if they don’t want to look at bones. Snowball Dan rented the girls a dining table and decorated with Martha Stewart style with lavish candlesticks, flowers and 70’s style avocado green leather cushioned chairs. It’s beautiful (?) Nik says that Jill has nixed the Chandelier from Hell, but that she’s not giving up on it.

Nikki: Jill, did you talk to Dan about the chandelier?

 Jill: No, no…why would I?

Nikki: Because it’s an issue.

Jill: Let’s not hash it out tonight.

Nikki: I feel like you need to speak to him…Jill do you think that a chandelier maker would continue to be in business if the chandeliers; were going to fall…talk to him.

Jill is frustrated. She says this is one argument Nik isn’t going to win. I doubt it. The whole scene is reminiscent of when Nikki wanted Jill to buy the wedding dress she didn’t love and have the wedding at a venue she wasn’t comfortable with. Nikki is acting like a big bully and Jill is acting like a pushover.

I don’t even think Jill is gay. Nik has said that when she saw Jill picture in the camp reunion newsletter, she wanted Jill whether she was gay, straight or whatever. Their conversation probably went something like this.

Nikki: Sooo…you ever think about being a big ol’ muffmuncher?

Jill:  No…

Nikki: You really should. You could talk to Ellen DeGeneres about it or something. You should really go for the vadge.

Jill: But I don’t want to…why would I?

Nikki: Because it’s an issue. Don’t you think that if it wasn’t fun, Ellen wouldn’t do it?

Whitney ‘would love to be lying in bed with Tor’ but she has to prepare for her white trash party. She admits that she is a little white trash, “it’s a good way to be raised, look how THIS kid turned out” she says, and does the thumb thing where she points at herself.

At Mikey’s fuckin workplace, they are down to fuckin business. Mikey says “one thing to remember in her company is that she is the boss and everyone else is an employee and when things are screwed up and she has to take care of it, it drives her nuts.” So she has to clean up the studio, despite her harsh words she doesn’t make the S girls do it. So she does it herself while fielding RSVP complaints. She realizes that Sesi is being too slow and that might be what is driving the complaints. Also, Mikey wears her sunglasses indoors a lot.

At Whit’s white trash party she tells Scarlett she fucked Tor with the strap-on. Whit is also wearing a ‘racoonskin’ cap. Romi heads to the white trash party and Whitney is worried for a second but wants to have fun at her party. So of course, she goes up to Romi and Tor and puts her arms around them both at the same time and invites them to creamed-corn-lube wrestling in the baby pool in the backyard. They make faces. Scarlett is ready to creamed corn wrestle. Whit strips down to her bikini top and Scarlett takes off her jeans. The girls go at it and the creamed corn and lube is making me want to gag just watching it. One lady is dressed as a giant vagina and is trying to coach Scarlett. Scarlett’s strategy is to take advantage of Whit’s concern for her dreds. Whit says she should have worn a showercap. Whit defeats Scarlett and sets her sights on Tor. Baby Koala looks adorable in a little gold white trash bikini and what I assume are fake tattoos. Whit takes out the 80 pound baby koala pretty quickly. While they are wrestling, Romi is in the corner getting dogged by her girl, as it is clear to everyone Whit and Tor have hooked up. Romi tells Whit that she and Tor made her sick to her stomach.

Tracy and Stamie are on the beach. Tracy tells Stamie her mom will love her, riiiight. Stamie promises to behave and not mention clam jumping or muff diving. Tracy makes excuses for her mom, like, ooo she went through a divorce. Tons of people go through divorces and still manage not to make their children feel like shit because they are gay. Stamie reveals that she has only been out to her parents for a few years (ummm…did they not know about the kids either?) and that they aren’t completely happy about it. Because who would want to tell their friends their kid is gay. Dude, what’s wrong with your kid being gay? Stamie and Tracy seem really sheltered. They are so into the ideal of family that they have accepted being treated as ‘less than’ because they are gay. What’s up with that?  

Back at the White Trash party, people are doing jello shots, playing flip cup and yelling. Then Romi decides to reclaim Whitney. She leads her by the hand to the bedroom. They proceed to hook up in the same bed with the same strap-on that she used with Tor the night before. This is where the porn comes in. They actually show the girls having sex, Romi acrobatically flips around with Whit. It’s kind of gross, who knows whether or not that toy was cleaned. Tor has had sex with men, she was in a relationship for 9 years with a guy that she has hinted cheated on her. So if Whitney did not put a condom on the toy before she used it with either girl, Romi is now having sex with everyone Tor has had unprotected sex with. It’s hard for girls to transmit diseases to each other and I’m not saying that Tor has one or that she’s dirty or a slut. I like Tor, she’s a cutie. But women who have sex with men are more likely to introduce disease to our community just because it’s much easier to contract something from a man. Whitney is being irresponsible both with Romi’s health and with Tor’s feelings.

 Also, what happened to the Romi that used to run away from the cameras? I liked her better. I also don’t understand why the scene is so graphic. Yes, there is simulated sex in shows like the Tudors and Sex and the City that is as graphic, but that’s fake. There is sex in straight reality shows, but generally it’s suggested by night vision cameras and rustling blankets. Why Ilene Chaiken would include this footage is beyond me. It makes our community look bad, it exploits us to being used for titillation of the straight community; it attempts to define us as lesbians to the mainstream because of who we sleep with instead of who we love. The Real L Word is the only reality show to go this far and it’s disgusting and not sexy.  

Tor is outside crying and getting drunk. She cries to Scarlett. They cut back to Romi getting slammed in front of the cameras and then they cut to Nikki and Jill’s Passover. The seder is light hearted and fun. They read and laugh and get the dogs involved. The seder is great, even without the Chandelier from Hell being involved. The girls intimate that they might have a little blessing next year and the guests applaud their hostesses.

At Rose’s house, she went to see her grandmother.  She’s still worried about her but she promised a friend, who is a promoter, that she and Natalie would put in an appearance at the party. Rose is still taking her emotions out on Natalie and it’s hard to watch. The girls get in Rose’s car and Rose drives them to the party.

Mikey and Raquel are out together, it’s date night! Mikey attempts to talk about work, but Raquel doesn’t want to talk about work at all. Mikey looks dazed and Raquel calls her out for thinking about work. Mikey is sorry and tries to turn it off. Both women love each other and struggle with ‘turning off’ work when they are together.

At the party that Rose and Natalie are attending, Natalie is hanging out with her pretty sister, the DJ. Rose vents to her friends while Natalie hides from Rose. Rose tells some girl that she is single. She texts with her ex-girlfriend, restraining order Angel. Rose leaves the party, doesn’t tell Natalie and drives away into the night. Natalie says it’s an unspoken rule that you don’t leave your girlfriend at a party, no matter how mad you are, if you came together.

At the White Trash party, Romi says she hates Whit and leaves the party. Whit realizes she was a jerk. She realizes that ppl were knocking on the door while they were having sex in there. Scarlett tells Whit she was being a jerk to Tor. Whit realizes that the hook up was too “in Tor’s face” and was a bad decision. Tor is in bed crying and calls Whitney a fucking bitch. Whit calls herself a piece of shit.

Natalie’s friends and her sister drive her home, Rose isn’t there and Natalie didn’t bring her keys. Rose’s phone is also off…she is probably sleeping with Angel, but Nat doesn’t know that. Nat goes to her friend’s house and tries to get her friends to understand that Rose isn’t a bad person. Natalie says that she thinks Rose believes in revenge. Rose’s friends take her home and her sister yells at her for staying with Natalie. Nat says she doesn’t care about Angel. The other girls are like “why because they are probably hooking up right now?” Nat says her mom taught her to love herself first, so Rose’s days might be numbered.

Whitney is crying on the steps of her house. Alyssa is with her, she explains how crushed Tor is and why. Both Alyssa, Tor and Scarlett have said that Whitney and Tor hooked up the night before, so Whit can’t blame this one on editing, even though she probably will. Whit suspects maybe she is the asshole.

End Scene

Next week: Rose and Whit hit up fashion week in time to watch Mikey propose on the runway to Raquel! Rose sees Angel. Tracy’s mom comes to visit.

The show includes a gay family.

Levitan stated “I’ve asked very specifically to use our show for a test market. We’re making it far too easy to watch it on other mediums and not getting proper credit for it. If we weren’t on Hulu and ABC.com, why don’t we try that? … I’ve actively lobbied to look at the big picture.”

He believes that the show could be a Top 3 show if all the people who watch it online were tallied. He has also said The idea isn’t to remove ways for viewers to find the show, but to see what (would happen to the ratings).”

The CW tried yanking “Gossip Girl” from the online availability, but found that the ratings did not improve. If ABC did try it, it would be the first time that a major network had tried this experiment.

The problem for Levitan is that the number of people viewing his show is not what it appears. To begin with, people who watch online do so because there is a conflict with another show that they do not want to miss, or because they do not have a television any more. Another thing is that two million viewers who watch the show online may not be different people who watch it on the air. Some people rewatch shows online. Networks such as Comedy Central air new episodes of a show repeatedly throughout the week in different time slots. For instance, Futurama’s new episodes air on Thursday at 10pm. That same episode is then shown at 8:30pm the following Tuesday, 9pm Wednesday, and 9:30 Thursday before the new show airs. While they may get a fair number of different viewers who, say, are watching something else on Thursday night, they are also probably getting a lot of the same people watching the show.

There in lies the problem, and it is why ABC should consider the online viewership with regards to keeping a show running, but certainly not with regards to thinking that those online viewers are going to watch the show on the television.

Ever since Simon Cowell announced that he was dunzo with American Idol, the media have been speculating who would fill his mean-spirited, honest-to-the-point-of-nastiness, British judging shoes. Top contenders have been Elton John, Brett Michaels, Perez Hilton (according to him), Jessica Simpson and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Also, now that Simon is gone, Nigel Lythgoe has returned as a producer of the show and might serve as a judge himself. He has garnered on-air judging experience on the show, “So You Think You Can Dance” and would probably be able to serve as a blonde version of Simon without the dwindling fanbase missing a beat.

Now, Fox has another spot to fill. Ellen has announced that she is leaving the show, as it is not a good fit for her. She says that she didn’t enjoy being “mean” to the contestants. Basically, she didn’t want to admit that most of the people who want to be singers, can’t make it in the highly competitive arena of professional singing. It’s not a slam on the American Idol hopefuls, it’s just a fact. If it was easy to make a living singing, we would all be doing it. Ellen said in a Fox press release:

“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the AMERICAN IDOL producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” said DeGeneres. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.  It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.   I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. Anyway, Hollywood Deadlineis reporting that Ellen officially left the show only after her seat on the judging panel was given away to Jennifer Lopez. It has been speculated that the erstwhile JLo wanted the seat to save her stagnant career, but American Idol probably needs JLo to boost their stagnant ratings. Despite JLo’s unpopular marriage to fellow Puerto Rican crooner, Mark Anthony and her canned pop-songs, she still has a strong following, especially in the Latino community.

 There are also rumors that Idol judge Kara Dioguardi has been unofficially fired. The successful songwriter never quite achieved popularity as a judge on American Idol, despite her record of sure fire pop hits. Dioguardi was on a year-to-year contract that has not yet been renewed.

Martina Navratilova has had an eventful life, to say the least. She has had a successful career as a tennis player and athelete, which is enough to warrant a documentary on her life, but she has also had tumultuous love affairs, paved the way for LGBT atheletes as a publicly out figure and battled and beaten cancer. Now CNN has been given full access to Martina’s life in order to create a revealing documentary on her. They sent out a press release that details the show, ‘Martina: My Toughest Opponent’:

in ‘Martina: My Toughest Opponent’

     It has been almost six months since tennis legend Martina Navratilova was told she tested positive for breast cancer. On a day she considers her “personal 9-11”, the 53-year-old athlete says she “was in denial for about two seconds and cried for a minute” before deciding to aggressively take on what she knew would become her greatest challenge.  

     In ‘Martina: My Toughest Opponent’ CNN chronicles Martina’s journey of balancing treatments, tennis, and everything in between. Narrated by CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, this half-hour special gives viewers an intimate look at Martina’s personal battle with breast cancer.

     “She didn’t miss a beat. That’s very Martina. She doesn’t sit around wondering or fidgeting,” says former professional tennis player and founder of the Women’s Sports Foundation Billie Jean King.  “She just gets into action. She’s a woman of action. You know, the way she played was that way and that’s how she is in real life.”

     When asked where she finds strength, Martina says: “I think anybody that survives the communist system, they’re pretty tough! And then being gay on top of that, that wasn’t helpful. As they say, that which does not kill you makes you stronger, so I am pretty strong.”

     Following a lumpectomy in March, Czech-born Martina underwent more than two dozen radiation treatments during a six-week period, which ended just days before she secured yet another Wimbledon title. CNN cameras followed her throughout this time, capturing not only her trips to the Paris-based treatment center, but also the time she spent at Roland Garros and the All England Club playing doubles matches with Jana Novotna and working as a commentator for The Tennis Channel.

     “When you’re playing with Martina it’s one thing, but when you’re playing with Martina and you know everything she is going through, it’s very emotional,” says Novotna.

     Many tennis greats – past and present – were interviewed for both the on-air and online components of this special including Novotna; Billie Jean King; Boris Becker; Jimmy Connors; Steffi Graf; Pam Shriver; Tim Henman; Kim Clijsters; Lindsay Davenport; Bob Bryan; Caroline Wozniacki; Bud Collins; Francesca Schiavone; and Martina Hingis.

     “It is very rare to be given such extraordinary access to someone of Martina’s stature,” says Katherine Green, senior vice president of CNN International. “This candid program shows how Martina never lets the cancer sideline her. It is a story that is beyond inspiring.”

Rosie O’Donnell isn’t the only outspoken woman who disaproves of Obama appearing on The View. Former Alaskan Governor for half a term, Sarah Palin is letting us all know, over twitter, what she would have done if she were President instead of him. She would have gone to the US-Mexican border, in face she is going there soon. Because the border is porous, like the sponges that the hockey moms use to wash their dishes of American love and pride and that’s not a good thing.

According to Degeneres:

I loved the experience working on “Idol” and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

Some have stated that the departure of Simon Callow from American Idol to be the best time for the show to come to an end. Ratings have slowly been going down, and the show is starting to show its age according to critics. Who will replace Degeneres has not been announced.

Rosie O’Donnell, who used to spend her mornings arguing with intolerant Harpy Elizabeth Hasslebeck on The View, thinks that President Obama should have better things to do besides make an appearance on the show. Little things like, the oil spill in the gulf, our two unofficial wars, unemployment and that whole gay thing…the wassitsit? Don’t Ask Don’t something. I think. You might have heard of it.

Anywho, on her XM talk show yesterday, Rosie tore into the President, saying: “I don’t really think sitting presidents should do fluffy daytime TV shows.” [Source]

In the President’s defense (because who DOESN”T need me to defend them?) he can’t be all work and no play. He still needs people to think he is a totally cool dude or whatever in order to stay President and accomplish whatever it is he wants to accomplish in office.

In news that you probably already knew, Sara Gilbert of Roseanne fame is officially out! This reminds me of the time Sean Hayes came out…it’s like yeah, girl! Of course you’re gay!

Gilbert dropped the L bomb  today at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Los Angeles. Gilbert has been mum on her partner and their two children and publicists for the star has asked press not to bring them up at events. However, now Gilbert is executive producing and co-hosting The Talk a rip off of The View and Gilbert is drumming up interest in the show. Hence the “official” coming out.

Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne, and Marissa Jaret Winokur will also host The Talk. It doesn’t sound like a horrible line-up except for Leah Remini. Remini is an outspoken scientologist and scientology isn’t big into the gay. In fact, Scientology hates the gay. Which is why it’s surprising that Gilbert and Osbourne are attached to the same project as her. But maybe Remini will serve as the groups intolerant harpie, the way the Elizabeth Hasslebeck is on The View.

When Gilbert was asked at the press event if she thought it’d be easier to be out in a talk show forum rather than as a character on a scripted show, Gilbert said,

 “This is a whole new world for me…I’m not an expert on this, or I don’t analyze these things. I’m just sort of living my life. I plan to put my heart and soul into this show, and I plan to continue acting, and I don’t think it will be a problem…I don’t ever really think of things as out or in…I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, I’ll talk about them and share when it seems right.” [Source]

Gilbert then addressed the fact that last week CBS sent out the press release about The Talk and mentioned the husbands of the other hosts, but only mentioned Gilbert’s children. Gilbert explained why Allison Adler, her longtime partner and a television producer was omitted.  Gilbert said that CBS didn’t leave out Adler because they are homophobic, but because she wanted them too. She said:  “CBS would write whatever I wanted.” Adding: “I’ve been acting my whole life, and I’ve never really discussed my personal life. This is a talk show…So obviously, I’m going to be discussing my life more, and I felt that the first place I wanted to do it wasn’t in a CBS press release. It just seemed impersonal, and I felt like I’d rather come in person and talk to you about all that stuff here.” Well yeah if you don’t you will have nothing to talk about. She kind of had to let that cat out of the bag before the show aired.

Gilbert’s coming out comes the day after CBS announced that they are adding token gay characters to their line-up after recieving a failing grade from GLAAD two years in a row for their poor representation of gay people. Also, do you remember when they refused to air LGBT PSA’s and commercials during the Superbowl but ran some conservative propaganda? Yeah, I remember that too. So now, CBS will have big lesbian Gilbert on The Talk, along with a gay on the William Shatner sitcom, “Bleep my Dad Says” and will be adding a gay a piece to already airing shows, “The Good Wife” and “Rules of Engagement” [Source] My guess is that all these characters will be men.

So Sara Gilbert is out, now that she can make money off it and now that the network that is paying her desperately needs to assuage GLAAD and the LGBT community. The jury is out on whether or not I am a Gilbert fan. But who cares about that? Remember Roseanne? Funny times. Once I was mistaken for Sara Gilbert and an excited Roseanne fan asked me for my autograph! If I had been able to recall Gilberts name at the time, I would have signed the Johnny Rocket’s napkin that the excited fan proffered to me.

Jane Lynch returns to the set of Glee next week, but until then, she is enjoying her time with her wife, Dr. Lara Embry. Lynch tells NY Magazine that she is nesting during her time off from filming. Lynch opens up to the mag about her professional life, her wedding and Glee. First on the menu is a movie called “I Do & I Don’t” which Lynch made before she achieved her Glee success which will now be released, as everyone and their mother loves Jane Lynch.

You made I Do & I Don’t back in 2007. Is it funny to be talking about it now?
It is, though I’m glad to be talking about it. It didn’t get a distributor or something, so we’re all very thrilled for it to be coming out. It’s disappointing when your hard work doesn’t see the light of day.

It’s a movie about a couple who goes for Pre-Cana counseling (in order to be married in a Catholic church) — did you and your wife do that?
[Laughs.] My wife and I would have never stepped foot in a Pre-Cana household. The fact that the church thinks it can teach anybody about relationships to me is funny.

The Catholic Church is feeling the wrath of Sue Sylvester! Lynch then addresses her wedding and the wedding planning process:

Your New York Times wedding announcement was very sweet.
Thank you, we were thrilled. We purposely didn’t do any press about it at all, we chose only one thing, to have an announcement in the Times, and they were kind enough to offer us a featured spot. Both of us are so impressed that the Times puts same-sex couples in their announcements, so we wanted to be one of the happy couples in the Sunday paper.

Were you involved in the wedding planning?
It was basically just our friends. And my wife, through a happy accident, found the Blue Heron, and they were great about helping us put everything together. My best friend Jeannie was the reverend; she went to UniversalLifeChurch.com and clicked on “Ordain Me.” And my friend Laura sang, and my friend David rounded up a couple of musicians for a jazz ensemble. And we all went to a restaurant and sat all together and ate a wonderful meal.

Then talk turns to Glee, the ultra popular show among both viewers and celebrities alike. Lynch is excited to start filming and singing again. She reveals that she loved working with Olivia Newton-John. Lynch also says that she is happy that the show’s cheerleader, teenage lesbian couple is getting more airtime and that she’s proud of the talented actresses who play Brittany and Santana. Lynch would also love to have a Joni Mitchell themed episode!

And finally, after Madonna and Lady Gaga, what artist would you like to have a Glee episode about?
I know we’re having a Britney Spears episode this season, I heard that. I’d love to have a Joni Mitchell episode: Joni reinterpreted, you know?

In this week’s episode of The Real L Word, it appeared that Mikey drank too much and missed the second day of her fashion press event in NYC. The show also featured several of her clients saying they were disappointed in the event and in their hostess. Fans of the show, myself included, expressed surprise that Mikey’s business could still be thriving today after that episode, but it is. Mikey has not lost any clients because of the events depicted on the show. A reliable source explains why:

The show depicted The Gallery LA’s media event as a flop when, in fact, there were 61 editors that attended and interviewed the designers, leading to an impressive amount of media coverage. There were a lot of other things taken out of context as well: the designer who was quoted as saying she wished there were more top-level media was interviewed only 3 hours into the two-day event, Shanna’s statement about being disappointed was an answer given to a completely different question that had no relevance to the press event and Mikey was depicted as having missed the first half of the second day because of a hangover when, in actuality, she was working from the hotel room ensuring that there were editors booked to come to the event that day (the footage of her lying down was taken the night before).

I don’t read the blogs or any of the interviews with the Real L Word ladies, because I want to watch the show, not hear complaints about editing. Every reality tv show star complains about the editing. It’s an old story, real life isn’t very interesting, it needs splicing and dicing to create cohesive stories with a beginning, middle and an end. However, one insightful commenter pointed out that the editing on The Real L Word has been on the extreme side, especially when it comes to Whitney’s storylines and it seems the same applies to Mikey’s.

Mikey’s business is her life. She is the only player whose career has really been put on the line because of the show, so I decided to run the explanation. The source further says:

Mikey signed onto this project because she thought it was going to be a documentary series that would empower others to pursue their passions and that’s what she hopes people will take away from it. There is an underlying story of a hard-working entrepreneur who has achieved a high level of success and she hopes that’s not diluted by one night of partying. 
 

 Thatt seems a little too Pollyanna for our cursing, partying tough girl. But it would explain why we see Mikey at work 95% of the time. What do you think? Do you buy it?
