Guerilla Lesbians are lesbians who are committed to raising visibility for our community while advancing lesbian interests.

It takes a special kind of lesbian to be considered a “Guerilla Lesbian”, and I am definitely one! Are you one too?

Guerilla Lesbians are not afraid to stand up for lesbian rights and speak out against any injustice towards the lesbian community. We are signing petitions, sending donations, rallying together, and infiltrating the heterosexual world as much as we can to let society know and see that we are here, we are queer, and it’s time to get used to it!

Visit www.guerillalesbians.com and see our site, plus sign up to receive updates to your inbox so you can participate in what we’re doing to advance the fight for lesbian rights worldwide.

Lesbian.com is one of the original lesbian websites online that featured content from real lesbians as a resource for other real lesbians.

Lesbian.com was registered in 1995 by Sue to protect the domain from the radical right and because she thought the web would be “an excellent avenue for dykes around the world to connect and network”.

In 1998, Sue, Mel, Ana, and Gisele (“The Dykes of Lesbian.com”) came up with their mission statement and began to grow their site. Lesbian.com now offers a lesbian-friendly marketplace, personals, news, and more such as the column Roving Lesbian Astrologer by Jenny Yates.

My favorite part of Lesbian.com is the extensive directory that it offers as a main feature to the site.

On the left hand side of Lesbian.com is an index list with topic names to choose from which will take you to a page with a list of links on that topic. So if you are looking for Deaf lesbians, Herstory, Land dykes, Lesbians of color, etc. you can find links for sites on those topics in the directory at Lesbian.com.

Make sure you take some time to add Lesbian.com to your bookmarks and the marketplace is a great find too so be sure to check that out as well.

Thanks for reading this lesbian website and we hope you enjoyed this post.

You may have noticed the past two days our site was down, and now, thanks to Allen of PremoDesigns, we are back up and running.

These past few months our website has had many growth spurts which has led to problems with our server. If you remember when we started this website last September, we were on Blogger, which is a free blogging service that we quickly outgrew. Using Blogger was very simple, but technical support was virtually non-existent. Moving to a professionally hosted website platform was a smart move for us, but it took a lot of work. We went over to GoDaddy.com which gave us WordPress for blogging and all was going well.

Unfortunately, this new pro platform was way beyond my basic html skills and I got a crash course in PHP.

I thought I had done good… I was wrong. There was a whole new realm to me called MySQL which was also apparently part of my website that I had no idea existed. This ‘database’ was causing us to over use our shared resources. The problem here now was that MySQL, WordPress, and GoDaddy are all separate entities and neither provides support for the other. So if you’re not a pro and are new to having your own pro site like me then finding answers to your troubles is not easy.

Luckily I was able to find help from PremoDesigns and we have the site back up.

To say these past few days were an adventure is extremely accurate. I ventured into techie forums and online reference manuals, tech support call centers and Google searches galore. In the end, it was hard to find help using the LGR link and I had to ask for help using my personal web address to get a reply. It was sad to see that even in the web design/hosting industry that homophobia is rampant. In order to get the help I needed, I finally found it by posting an ad for an expert in a WordPress job board, praying that homophobia wouldn’t play a part.

Thank goodness for Allen Lee of PremoDesigns who did not blink to offer help to this lesbian webmaster at no charge.

We are online and functioning now, but to let you know, after a reality check I am realizing that we have got to find a more LGBT friendly web host.

Anyone have any suggestions???

If you are a lesbian webmaster, or a webmaster with a website that caters to lesbians, then this post is for you!

I have been working from home online for a few years now, and my business is to help others earn an income from home online. I help many people monetize their websites, not just lesbians, but as a lesbian myself I have found that there are only a handful of programs out there that are designed specifically for lesbians.

For the most part I showcase opportunities that are generic or mainstream, and have no problem helping my clients find sponsors and opportunities to monetize as long as they’re not gay or lesbian.

What I have found though is that once I take on a client who is a member of the LGBT community, finding sponsorships and opportunities becomes double work for me. We really have to work hard to find products and services that the LGBT community have a need for and that is not provided by a company engaged in anti-gay activity.

For example, I have over a hundred online dating sites that I have sponsorship options with, and eHarmony is one of them.

No lesbian webmasters that I know of are interested in touching that sponsorship option with a ten foot pole! Maybe now that Lindsay Lohan put a fake profile commercial together endorsing eHarmony on Funny or Die, but still I’m not putting any money on that bet.

However, there are 3 programs that I recommend to everyone, LGBT or hetero – they are Adify, Amazon, and AdSense.

These are three monetization options that I consider mandatory for all who are interested in monetizing a site online. I use AdSense and Adify on all of my websites, and use Amazon links in many of my posts.

The next best option is to sign up for what are called affiliate programs.

There are some large affiliate networks that host many affiliate programs within their site and the ones I recommend for lesbian webmasters are CJ ( they offer Love and Pride, Fabugo, Gay.com, Match.com, more); LinkShare (they offer Orbitz, Chemistry); and ShareASale (they offer MyPartner.com, OneLove Networks). With these affiliate networks you join the main site and then apply for individual programs after you’ve been approved.

Other affiliate programs I recommend are those that are offered by a particular website itself.

You will usually see a link at the bottom of their site that will say “Affiliates”, “Webmasters”, “Referrals”, “Partners”, “Make Money” or some other term identifying that there is a opportunity available to earn a commission on any sales you might send their way.

Here is a list of the independent programs I am a part of and that I recommend for other lesbian webmasters like myself:

LESBIAN DATING AFFILIATE PROGRAMS:

LDate.com

CupidMedia

Singles Cash

LGBT MEDIA AFFILIATE PROGRAMS:

Wolfe Video

TLA Video

GAY PRIDE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS:

Queer Republic Tees

Rainbow Depot

Over the Rainbow

Always Proud

ADULT PRODUCT AFFILIATE PROGRAMS:

BabeLand

Good Vibes

Sapphic Cash

Verotel (No Fauxx, Good Dyke P*rn)

CC Bill (Lez Love, Crash Pad Series)

Movie Dollars (various)

So you can see the list is not that long if you consider the thousands of programs available to mainstream markets.

It did take me some time to find these programs for lesbian webmasters so I hope this list has helped someone else out there to save some time and find some good sponsors for their websites.

If you know of a good affiliate program for lesbian webmasters, be sure to let us all know by adding the link in our comments.

Okay so I am a little biased but it’s true, I absolutely love my blog!

My blog is called Lesbian Mommy: Adventures of A Lesbian Mom, and that really sums up what this blog is about – my adventures in this world as a lesbian mom.

The Lesbian Mommy Blog is where I share with the world the experiences I encounter in my travels through lesbian life.

Some of the most popular stories on that blog are the ones where I share my most personal feelings and insights into what it’s like to be a lesbian mom, my relationship with my wife, and the adventures we have as a family. I have also come to use that blog to raise awareness for LGBT issues and provide a resource to lesbians online with links and information they might be looking for.

Whether you are a lesbian, a mom, or label yourself in any other way you are most welcome to visit my Lesbian Mommy blog and take a look.

I hope that others can benefit from the sharing of my adventures, and I welcome other lesbian blogs and sites to visit my blog roll to be added. You’ll also find a Sponsor section where you can find a variety of online shopping options for lesbians like myself. I really have tried to make my blog become a valuable resource and I hope that you like it.

The Lesbian Mommy Blog is at http://lesbianmommy.blogspot.com, and I try to post there whenever I have something interesting to share.

GayWired Media includes some of the most well respected digital brands serving the LGBT community including flagship sites GayWired.com, 247Gay.com and LesbiaNation.com.

LesbiaNation.com evolved into SheWired.com in 2008.

SheWired.com Senior Editor Tracy E. Gilchrist announced the transition by saying:

While the Web remains a relatively young media outlet compared to newspapers, radio, film and television, LesbiaNation.com, at 11 years old, is ancient by Internet terms. And it’s to the credit of the site’s creators and the editors and writers who’ve contributed outstanding content throughout the years, that I’m in the position as Senior Editor of LesbiaNation.com, soon to be SheWired.com, to shepherd the site into fun, fresh, important pop culture territory.

Fun, fresh and important are three accurate terms for the new site, with it’s celesbian personalities, featured columns, and user friendly atmosphere.

SheWired.com brings users these exciting new columns and features:

- Cathy DeBuono’s Weekly Vlog “What’s Your Problem?” – The star of “Out at the Wedding” offers her candid opinion on how to deal with the trials and tribulations life serves up on a daily basis.

- Jill Bennett’s Weekly Vlog “The Violet Underground” – Want to know what’s on Jill’s mind? Check out “The Velvet Underground,” where she’ll feature politics and pop culture as well as exclusive “South of Nowhere” coverage.

- Staceyann Chin’s Weekly Blog – Poet and activist Staceyann Chin pushes the limits delivering her thoughts on a variety of subjects, including relationships, dating and sex.

- Gloria Bigelow’s Weekly Blog – A featured star of “Laughing Matters…Next Gen!,” Bigelow brings her own brand of humor to SheWired.com by riffing on the week’s top pop culture and political headlines.

- Exclusive Interviews and Features – SheWired.com premieres with exclusive interviews with “The L Word’s” Leisha Hailey, the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray, “All My Children’s” Tamara Bruan and The Veronicas’ Jess Origliasso. Additionally, SheWired.com sits down with D-Listed’s Michael K to discuss the “gayelle” phenomenon.

We LOVE SheWired.com and are subscribed to their site as they are a great source of entertainment news and celesbian interviews.

You can find the SheWired.com homepage here, or you can reach out to them on Facebook here or Twitter here.

If you’ve been with us since the beginning, you might remember how our site first started out, using the Blogger.com platform with only a handful of writers. We were very limited there, but did our best to bring you the best of what we had to offer from the perspective of a lesbian. Now, as I write this post to you, we have had over 300,000 page views to our little blogsite!

Since our server crashed last month, we moved over to our new platform and our new look.

It’s taken us some hard work to get our posts and features moved over… we had over a thousand posts to move! In the process, our subscription information was interrupted, and I am happy to report that we are back online completely and now holding a Subscription Drive, plus we are officially open to accept Sponsorships as well!

You’ll want to make sure to subscribe to our site at this time so you are on our list to receive the latest and find out about exclusive opportunities.

Speaking of opportunities, if you are a lesbian business owner, or have a product that you think our readers would be interested in, now that we are open for sponsorships, you have the opportunity to get your offer out there. We have text links, sponsored videos, and product placement solutions so be sure to visit our advertising page for more information if that is something that interests you. In any case we sincerely hope that you are enjoying LezGetReal, and if you have any comments or questions for us, you can find our contact form on our About page here.

Thank you for reading our blogsite, and we hope you’ll take the time to subscribe.

Here is the link for those who are interested in subscribing via email.

With the recent proposed launch of gay dating site Compatible Partners by anti-gay dating site eHarmony, I was feeling a bit discouraged about my single lesbian friends and how they were going to go about finding the love of their life in the current world of dating.

I have a lot of friends online and have played matchmaker a few times but really, I’m not any good at it. Nevertheless I still have people who ask me if I know any single lesbians who might be interested in chatting or meeting up. In efforts to create a solution I have launched a new website for lesbian singles, in partnership with LDate.com, called SingleWomyn.

SingleWomyn is a site for single lesbians looking to meet other single lesbians, with an option to upgrade to a premium dating package.

Premium members of SingleWomyn have access to an exclusive network of single lesbians worldwide, and the network is tied in to other lesbian dating sites, so you are sure to find a lesbian match if you are single and looking!

If you are in the market for your next ex wife, or looking for the love of your life, be sure to sign up for SingleWomyn today – it’s free!

I am going to promote this site to every single lesbian I know, because I know alot of really great lesbian womyn. Whether you know me or not, if you are a single lesbian, join the SingleWomyn network.

You never know when she’ll be looking for you!

You can sign up and find your matches at www.SingleWomyn.com.

California has a pending bill, copying a similar one in New York, categorizing online publishers as “sales presence” for out-of-state advertisers. This means taxes will be levied on out-of-state advertisers, potentially causing them to shut down their publisher relationships in the state. Many online publishers and bloggers rely on affiliate merchant advertisements to earn an income online or cover the costs of maintaining their blog or website.

Legislation similar to California Assembly Bill 178 recently passed in New York causing hundreds of merchants to shut down their online affiliate programs, according to an e-mail sent to California publishers by LinkShare.com.

We suspect over 200 merchants shut down their New York affiliate programs as a result of this law. It will have a larger impact in California, and it could spread to other states if we can’t stop this bill.

In an already unstable economy and job market, the proposed legislation is worrisome to online companies and independent publishers alike.

Increasing taxes for companies who do business online with publishers in California will lead to decreased income for California publishers as companies are forced to do business with publishers from other states and other countries just to cut costs.

The Performance Marketing Alliance has begun a grassroots campaign to gain signatures on their petition against CAB 178 .

The PMA has the support of Beth Kirsch, a well known leader in the industry who was formerly a federal lobbyist. PMA and Beth Kirsch are asking all California performance marketers, bloggers, and online publishers to get involved and spread the word to gain as many signatures as possible by March 31st.

All bloggers – even if they are not based in California – are urged to join the grass-roots efforts and spread the message to fight the bill. LinkShare is encouraging bloggers to post, forward, bulletin and tweet the petition.

The government is proposing a law that will make all internet providers to filter out and block inappropriate content.

They want to ban items like terrorism and abusive images of kids on the internet. A list of websites that the government has drawn up includes a lot of gay sites.

What they did not realize when they were making the “black list” that YouTube links and some Wiki entries have been included in the “blacklist” as well along side gay and straight porn sites.

The blacklist is said to include over 2,395 websites the list it self was said to be obtained by Wikileaks a site that allows anonymous people to leak official documents.

Wikileaks plans to reveal the “blacklist” since they already revealed ones for other countries who have also”blacklisted” sites. The Sydney Herald gained the “blacklist” and went through only to find out that over half of the “banned websites” are not even associated with kids porn.

This list is said to include:

Poker portals.

Youtube links.

Gay/straight porn.

Wiki entries.

Euthanasia pages.

Homepages of private companies.

Medical practitioners.

The creator of Wikileaks Julian Assange told the Sydney Herald that the secret censorship systems were “invariably corrupted”. He pointed out over 1,000 sites that criticized the Thai royal family which were already on the Thailand censorship list originally made to prevent child porn.

Wikileaks only got the blacklist because Wikileaks itself was added to it after Julian Assange decided to publish the blacklist. The Australian Communications and Media Authority is investigating how the black list got leaked and debating on taking criminal action.

The communications minister said that leaking the blacklist would be “grossly irresponsible and undermine efforts to improve cyber safety”.

He goes on to say “Under existing laws ACMA blacklist includes URL’s relating to child sexual abuse, rape, incest, bestiality, sexual violence and detailed crimes. No one interested in cyber safety would condone the leaking of the list. The black list itself is provide to the makers of internet filtering software that parents are able to install on there PC’s. However, if the government proceeds with its purposed internet filtering scheme, sites on the blacklist will be blocked for all the Australians.

Their site has a sleek look and fresh atmosphere, with a heavy focus on entertainment and nightlife.

One of the more popular features of the site is the Real Grrl weekly column which features real lesbians doing amazing things in the community and more. You will find that LezGetReal.com writers have been featured on the site such as Spaz and Jules Joyce. I suspect many of our writers are amazing and warrant a listing on Cherry Grrl, and if you know someone who should be considered they invite you to contact them.

The Cherry Grrl MySpace page says they are looking for:

Lesbians who are doing amazing things – musicians, athletes, performers, comedians, activists, designers… A Real Grrl is a lesbian-next-door who is dedicating her life to something amazing. In the past, we’ve profiled surfers, artists, and athletes. Each week, our editors pick a different grrl to feature. If you think you’d make a great Real Grrl, contact us via the contact page on CherryGrrl.com and we will send you the info!

Other features on the site include the ‘Fresh Ten’, movie reviews, and a special section on NYC Nightlife.

If you are in NYC it’s worth a look, and if not there are other features of the CherryGrrl website that you might like. So be sure to visit Cherry Grrl today and see if it’s your cup of cherry, and if it is be sure to subscribe.

Created by Parada Lésbica, a portal with information for lesbians started on October 8 last year, Leskut works quite much like Facebook, Myspace or Orkut – you register a profile and you have access to regular social network tools like, blogging, communities, poking, photo albums, playlists, video albums, scraps and an instant message board.

The creator, Del, regards the success to its connection with Parada Lésbica. “When I created PL, I wanted it to be a portal that broached varied subjects and had diverse functions: downloads, information, interaction among girls – and that’s why I created Leskut”, she says.

Most of the registered girls are between 16 (the minimum age) and 20 years old. Del explains that it was with the help of a lawyer that she got to the age of 16, when a person is legally seen as having already reached “age of consent” and is able to make her own sexual life choices. Nonetheless, having the 16-year-old girls around means Leskut has to be totally ‘clean’, free of porn. This moderation is done by 7 competent women that analyze together any suspicious profile or occurrence. Besides, Del personally talks to girls about the importance of keeping the network free of porn and obscenities .

Thanks to the healthy interaction environment created by this woman, 80 new girls join Leskut every day.

There is a website with tools that are helping lesbian moms and their children to raise awareness of families like ours.

Buddy G: My Two Moms and Me is a cartoon especially for gay families with a website to match found at www.BuddyG.tv. I was able to watch a clip of the first episode of the Buddy G cartoon on the website, and I have to say I was excited to see another cartoon where families like mine are represented. I was even more excited when I found that the Buddy G TV website also offers printable cartoon pages, online jigsaw puzzles, and related videos for LGBT families. I printed out a few of the coloring pages right away, and slipped them into the pile of pages during coloring time, then put them on the fridge for the world to see. Since then, many visitors to my home have commented on the Buddy G coloring pages, and how cool they are. I feel like they walk away with a little more of a sense of how normal gay families really are.

When I ventured in to learn a bit more about Buddy G and how I could get the DVD, I found that Buddy G has received a lot of press and media attention, while promoting other two-mommy media such as the DVD Dottie’s Magic Pockets. I fell in like with Buddy G right away and he is now a friend of mine on MySpace. *smile* I learned from Donna, Margaux and Grayson, the family behind Buddy G, that one little girl carries the DVD in her backpack to prove to other kids that “there are lots of families like hers – they even have a cartoon!” This is awesome to know, because children of lesbian moms are being validated as equally as special as all the other children in the world since they are represented in a cartoon. The Buddy G DVD and website is great for showing children of lesbian moms that they are not the only children in the world with two moms, and helps to reinforce a positive view of LGBT families. Plus sharing the coloring pages with my nieces and nephews shows them that their Aunties aren’t the only ones with a two mommy family.

Here is what the Buddy G website says about how the show came to be:

We know we are a minority and that most kids have a mom and a dad, but for little guys like our son we thought wouldn’t it be grand if there were something more available to them. Something like a cartoon, like a Caillou with two moms or dads. The more we talked about it the more important it became. It was almost like, if we didn’t do something about it after we had this fantastic idea, then we were somehow being irresponsible parents. So out of that, “Buddy G” was born. It took longer, cost more and was way harder then we thought it would be, but we couldn’t be happier or more proud of the cartoon and the potential it represents. “Buddy G” has added incredible joy to our family and we hope he adds a little happiness to yours.

Sincerely,

Margaux, Donna and Grayson

I feel a sense of relief that there are people out there like Donna, Margaux and Grayson who are brave enough to fill the void in the LGBT community for two-mommy media, and provide tools to help lesbian moms and their children to raise awareness for LGBT families in a fun and positive way. It’s also good to know that the Buddy G website is expanding in the near future to provide even more Buddy G fun and games for the kids. If you are a lesbian mom, there are also fun things for you at the Buddy G website too! You can find videos and more for LGBT parents here. In the meantime, you can order the DVD below plus you can add Buddy G as your friend on MySpace here.

I am really looking forward to the expansion of the Buddy G TV website, and for other two mommy media products to provide awareness tools for their products such as coloring pages and online games for the children. Even something as simple as seeing a two mommy family on paper helps make the world more aware of how normal an LGBT family really is. Thanks Buddy G!.

Seeing Beyonce’s picture on the LOGO homepage was a bit disorienting because she is straight, but the seeming reason for her appearance there is that her new video is called “If I Were A Boy”.The video shows the singer as a police officer, taking an aggressive role in her straight relationship to prove a point in double standards for men and women. Frankly, as a lesbian I was not impressed. The whole topic of the song, video storyline, and even the title reminded me of a much catchier song with a much hotter video that us lesbians could appreciate.

Ciara is an R&B singer who released the song “Like A Boy” in 2006.

The video shows the singer letting her boyfriend know that sometimes she wishes she could switch roles and be the “boy” in the relationship. Ciara then proceeds to present a femme and butch version of herself. The outfits Ciara and her dancers wear in the video seem to be inspired from a sexy lesbian clothing line and true dyke fashion. (They’re even wearing lesbian shoes and butch hats.) Beyonce gives us more of the same ‘sexy straight girl with lip gloss’ in her video, and seems to be a video aimed more at pissing off Jay-Z then appealing to lesbians. Ciara’s video definately works at appealing to this lesbian!

In any case, judge for yourself. Here are both of the videos for you to watch and tell me, does Beyonce’s video appeal to you as a lesbian, or not so much? Do you like Ciara’s video better?
