The Who are slated to play at the London 2012 Olympics, and they have been asked whether or not Keith Moon will be willing to come out of retirement for the gig. You know, along side John Entwistle, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Jimi Hendrix. The band’s manager, Bill Curbishley, stated that“I emailed back saying Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to the Who’s anthemic line ‘I hope I die before I get old’. If they have a around table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him.”
Moon died in September 1978 from an accidental overdose of prescription medication. Entwistle, also a Who band member, died in 2002. Still, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend are alive and kicking, and hopefully will be playing at the Olympics. The Sex Pistols, though, have turned down the chance to be a part of the Symphony of Rock which will be part of the games’ closing seremony.
No word yet if Freddie Mercury has been asked to come out of ‘retirement’ to perform.
Well, hopefully, Queen will be performing with Adam Lambert. . .that would be something to see.
