Santorum Compares Self To Lincoln, Same-Sex Marriage To Slavery

Rick Santorum is a man who has an unhealthy obsession with homosexuality and a tendency to do things like conflate himself with those who were fighting real moral wrongs such as Abraham Lincoln. Santorum has gone to bat to claim that gays were waging a ‘jihad’ against him, and that he things that there is a cure for homosexuality through reparative therapy (even though the APA and AMA and those who have gone through it and even founded groups based on it have shown it does not work).

Oh…yes, you did not hear that Santorum has compared himself to Abraham Lincoln? Well, he believes that he is fighting a ‘moral wrong.’ Santorum stated that “I have been a long-time advocate for states’ rights. However, I believe as Abraham Lincoln did — that states don’t have the rights to legalize moral wrongs.”

There is, of course, a difference between depriving a person of their freedom despite the fact that they have not committed a crime and allowing someone who was born with a strong attraction to someone of the same sex to have equal rights. Of course the Bible actually allows for slavery while it condemns homosexuality, so, perhaps Santorum should start sorting out what is and is not moral. After all, the Bible does allow fathers to sell off their daughters.

Santorum was making these assertions in response to what Herman Cain said about how the states should be allowed to decide the issue of same-sex marriage.
